Live football score, Indian Super League (ISL) 2016: Catch live scores and updates of Delhi Dynamos against NorthEast United

NorthEast United certainly have a problem in goal and manager Nelo Vingada, in all probability, will consider one of the substitute goalkeepers for their next game. Subrata Paul may be one of the most prominent names amongst the Indian football fraternity but this match proved beyond doubt that he is only a pale shadow of his former self.
NorthEast also had problems with their set pieces. There were many instances of Delhi players getting free headers from set pieces and, while it was not a header, Delhi’s goal came from such a circumstance.

Delhi Dynamos for their part, were sloppy in attack. Considering the number of chances that they had, it is a surpise how Delhi didn’t win the match with a two or three goal margin. In the end though, this was the most intense match thus far in this year’s ISL with both the teams playing end-to-end.
Delhi Dynamos coach Gianluca Zambrotta has handed a “special invitation” to his team’s supporters to turn up in impressive numbers for their home match in the Hero Indian Super League against NorthEast United FC at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi, on Saturday.
Matches between these two in Delhi are always feisty occasions because of the amount of fans NorthEast have in Delhi. Delhi Dynamos have a chance of jumping two places up with a win here while NorthEast will further consolidate their position at the top of the table if they come out with the three points. With the season starting to take shape, this might just be one of those matches that teams will count as the one of the reasons behind their success or failure at the end of the tournament.

10′ gone Delhi Dynamos 0-0 NorthEast United
NorthEast are playing in their away colours and it has been quite a physical start to the match. The fact that the first yellow card cam within these first ten minutes is proof enough for that. Delhi Dynamos’ giant centre back Ruben Rocha crashed onto a Delhi attacker and he did not look too surprised when the referee booked him. This is just one of the many challenges that has prevented a smooth flow to the game so far.

With the season starting to take shape, this might just be one of those matches that teams will count as the one of the reasons behind their success or failure at the end of the tournament.
Delhi Dynamos have four points from their first two away matches and Zambrotta said it’s important to maintain balance as matches come thick and fast.
“We had some difficulties against Kerala because the match came immediately after the Chennai match. We will try to do our best against NorthEast United. It’s impossible to play at the same level all the time but the important thing is to have the players focused in attack and defence,” he said.
NorthEast United FC coach Nelo Vingada also said it’s important to focus on the recovery, especially after the last match where they played for almost an hour with just 10 men. NorthEast United had the numerical disadvantage when defender Nirmal Chhetri was sent off but despite the setback, the league leaders regained the momentum to score a narrow victory against FC Pune City, who also had a player sent off in the second half.
Nirmal received the red card and has been suspended for the match against Delhi Dynamos.
“We played for one hour with 10 men. A lot of energy was spent but I believe our team’s character and effort can make for a good performance,” said the Portuguese coach.
“Since the beginning, we are seeing that all teams are improving. It’s been an intense campaign for NorthEast and we have already played four games. But there are no excuses. We will play our best against a good team which is playing at home for the first time,” he said.
NorthEast United are on top of the league ladder with nine points from four matches. Delhi Dynamos are placed fourth with four points from two matches.

20′ gone Delhi Dynamos 0-0 NorthEast united
A lot of things happening here. Delhi Dynamos had a fantastic chance when Marcelinho threaded in a cross from the left flank but the shot was wide off target. The action then shifted to the other end when Katsumi Yusa was brought down inside the Delhi box. While there was contact, it was only slight and the penalty, if it had been given, would have been a bit unfair to the home side. But instead, the referee gave a yellow to Katsumi for simulation.
NorthEast then had consecutive chances when NorthEast goalkeeper Subrata Paul did a very poor job of handling a loose shot from outside the box. The rebound provoked another shot that was saved by Paul but it remained in olay. And then Marcelinho had a fairly open goal in front of him and surprisingly, hit it wide.

30′ gone Delhi Dynamos 0-0 NorthEast United
This seems to be as much a test for the referee as it is for the players. Both teams have had equal chances and both teams have made equally silly errors in defence and in attack. It could have been a penalty for NorthEast but it was not given while Delhi had quite a few free kicks appeals turned down.
Both teams have made forays into the opposition and the seemingly decisive pass would be received by a player who is offside. If the teams did not make these mistakes, it would have been a goal fest already in this match.

GOAL!! Delhi Dynamos 1-0 NorthEast United (37′ Kean Lewis)
NorthEast would have hope for a safe pair of hands when they acquired Subrata Paul but that is not something they have had in this match. It was nothing more than a routine corner and Paul, instead of standing his ground, decided to come off his line and punch the ball off. He missed the ball completely. It fell nicely for an unmarked Kean Lewis who had a vacant goal in front of him. He made no mistake with the finish. Surprising to see Subrata Paul making such errors.

HALF-TIME!! Delhi Dynamos 1-0 NorthEast United
A half that has been low on quality but filed with action nonetheless. It seems the feisty mood in the stadium has spilled on to the pitch and the players pushed and pulled their way through the half which ends with Delhi Dynamos ahead but NorthEast showed their prowess through a blistering counter just before the half time whistle that the home side could just about see it off.

GOAL!! Delhi Dynamos 1-1 NorthEast United (Alfaro 50′)
NorthEast had started the second half with seemingly just one thing in mind; get the equaliser. The ball was with the Delhi full back but he lost the ball to Velez who ran towards the goalkeeper threateningly. Doblas took the bati adn came off his line to stop him but Velez calmly passed it to Alfaro who was wating in the middle. His first shot bounced off one of the Delhi defendors who was trying to block out the vacant goal. The ball came back to him and he deftly put into the bottom corner of the goal. Its game-on.

65′ Delhi Dynamos 1-1 NorthEast United
The visitors are making more attacks now and Delhi Dynamos are not helping their cause by giving the ball away cheaply. NorthEast had another good chance in the 60th minute when Alfaro got clear of the goalkeeper. But Delhi centre back Rocha covered well and made sure that the angle becomes too acute for Alfaro to threatedn the goal.
Florent Malouda came on for Delhi Dynamos in the 65th minute.

75′ gone Delhi Dynamos 1-1 NorthEast United
Both goalkeepers look overworked and are making mistakes repeatedly but their defence are seeing off the danger. Still, the way the two teams are attacking, the match just seems to have another goal in it. There is no way one can determine the end result of this match.

FULL TIME!! Delhi Dynamos 1-1 NorthEast United
This match has been a story of two defences. While Delhi Dynamos had an able goalkeeper behind them who did make a few mistakes that could have proven costly, it is only a wonder how Subrata Paul would make it into the NorthEast United first team after this match. The former Indian national goalkeeper was misjudging balls that were coming straight at him and was gifting chances to Delhi Dynamos. While the NorthEast defenders did cover up well for his errors, the fact remains that Delhi Dynamos were sloppy in front of goal or they could have been two or three goals up in this second half. In the end, the two sides share the points.
