Faroe Islands vs Portugal: Preview, Prediction and Betting Tips

Faroe Islands vs Portugal
European Qualifiers – 2018 World Cup
Date: Monday, 10th October 2016
Kick-off at 19:45 UK
Venue: Torsvollur, Torshavn.
Faroe Islands have a mountain to climb, they will be hosting Portugal at home on Monday night at Torsvollur.
Faroe Islands were strong against Latvia on Friday, they grabbed a 2-0 away victory which kept them in 2nd spot of group B. 2 goals from S. Nattestad in the 19th minute and J. Edmundsson in the 70th minute gave them the victory. They are just 2 points of the leaders Switzerland and a point above their next opponent Portugal.
Portugal went back to winning ways a resounding 6-0 victory over poor Andorra. Cristiano Ronaldo and his team mates were merciless on Friday night as they ran riot on their visitors scoring 6 times without reply. Ronaldo netted 4 times in the game while Joao Cancelo and Andre Silva completed the 6 goals. They now hope to repeat this performance in this game to go above Faroe Island in the table.

Faroe Islands vs Portugal: Head to Head Statistics

Both teams have only met once which was an international friendly in 2008, Portugal defeated Faroe Islands 5-0 in the game. This will be their second game in history and their first competitive game ever played between them.

Faroe Islands vs Portugal: Prediction

Its no doubt that Portugal have the upper hand in this game despite playing on away soil. Portugal have been on a superb form, having just 1 dent in their last 5 game which was a defeat to Switzerland. They have won 4 of their last 5 games and have kept clean sheets in 4 of their last 5 games.
Since after their success in the European Championship, Portugal have won 2 of the 3 games played so far and lost 1. They have scored a total of 11 goals in their last 3 games.
Faroe Islands haven’t been poor, they have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 of their last 5 games. They have kept clean sheets in their last 2 games and showed signs of improvement in their last win over Latvia.
I expect Portugal to win the game in a high tone, but i also expect the home team to score at least a goal in the game.
