According to reports in Portugal, Liverpool have made an approach for Porto’s Algerian midfielder Yacine Brahimi.

The 26-year-old Brahimi is regarded as one of the most talented of Algeria’s current crop of outstanding players and has long been on the radars of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Portuguese media outlet O Jogo reports that the Reds, along with Milan and Wolfsburg, have made enquiries over the availability of Brahimi.

Porto have made good business of selling on their top players for big fees in recent years, but Brahimi’s case is more complicated.

The Algerian may have a reported €60million buyout clause, but the club only owns 50 percent of his economic rights, meaning his sale may not make financial sense when weighed against the value he would offer in another season as an active player.

Brahimi made 33 appearances and scored seven goals to help Porto finish third on the Primeira Liga in the 2015/16 season.
