FKF/KPL feud: Ngala feels for players

Wilson Oburu

The ongoing feud between the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) is sure to affect all stakeholders in Kenyan football but the most hit will definitely be the players, who depend on football to sustain themselves.
The players have since come together in a series of campaigns and even held a press briefing from which they handed the two warring bodies an ultimatum to solve their issues and Gor Mahia Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala is in support of their initiative.
Ngala, in an interview with Sports News Africa said the players’ welfare should not be affected by a simple matter like a disagreement on who to manage the league and noted that if they were to boycott matches, they’d have his full support.
Decent living
-Of course I’d side with the players. I have been in football management in Kenya for some time now and I know where the players have come from. When they used to go home without any salary and now we have improved our league to an extent that they can get a good decent living from football.
-When people cannot agree on a simple matter like who to run the league, the players are the biggest sufferers so I sympathize with them and I support their cause. It they want to come together and push for union between these two factions then I support that, he said.
The feud has seen the second round of matches in the KPL put on hold pending a hearing set for Tuesday 3 March.
