INDY ELEVEN GOALKEEPER KRISTIAN NICHT TRANSFERS TO MONTREAL IMPACT

Indy Eleven has transferred Kristian Nicht to the Montreal Impact, and the move is effective immediately

Indy Eleven has announced the transfer of veteran goalkeeper Kristian Nicht to Major League Soccer’s Montreal Impact FC, effective immediately.
“It is our desire to be a player-friendly club, and we are honoring that by allowing Kristian to join Montreal at this time,” Indy Eleven President and General Manager Peter Wilt said. “This move will provide an incredible opportunity for Kristian, and everyone at Indy Eleven wishes him the best of luck during this tremendous moment in his career.
“I would also like to thank Adam Braz at the Montreal Impact for agreeing to a deal that benefits Kristian, Indy Eleven, and Montreal both in the short and long terms,” concluded Wilt.
The 33-year-old Nicht is no stranger to L’Impact after joining the club during two separate loan stints this spring.  Nicht’s initial month-long loan allowed him to join the Impact roster for both of their CCL Quarterfinal Round contests against Mexican side Pachuca on February 24 and March 3, and he returned for a short spell surrounding the Semifinal Round first leg against Costa Rican club Alajuelense on March 18.
“I want to thank the Indy Eleven organization for giving me the chance to follow through on this wonderful opportunity,” said Nicht.  “While I am very excited to join Montreal, thanks to the support I received from Indy Eleven’s tremendous fans and the Indianapolis community as a whole I will always consider myself 'Indy Forever.’”
Nicht started all four of Indy Eleven’s 2015 NASL Spring Season contests, registering an undefeated 1W-3D-0L record along with a league-best 13 saves and 1.00 goals against average (4th in NASL among goalkeepers with at least 100 minutes played). In 2014, Nicht started all 27 NASL regular season contests and both appearances in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for Indy Eleven during its inaugural season. His 397-minute shutout streak last September and October set a new record for a goalkeeper during the NASL Modern Era.
“Kristian Nicht’s impact both on and off the field has been a huge part of what Indy Eleven has become. This is a decision that did not come easily for the organization, but we feel the depth we've built will allow us to move forward with confidence at the goalkeeper position,” Indy Eleven Director of Soccer Operations and head coach Juergen Sommer said. “I’d like to thank Kristian for everything he has given to the club and look forward to following this next step in his career development.”
Today’s transaction leaves Indy Eleven with two goalkeepers on the roster, Keith Cardona and Jon Dawson, both of whom signed on March 31. The 22-year-old Cardona is a former New York Red Bull Academy and University of Maryland product, who came to Indy Eleven after joining Austrian second division side FC Leifering last summer. The 24-year-old Dawson returned to the Boys in Blue for a second season in March, this after the Butler University alum and Indianapolis native spent last year backing up Nicht.

5 THINGS | ZOURAB TSISKARIDZE'S 65-YARD STRIKE, JOSÉ ANGULO'S PERFORMANCE WERE KEY MOMENTS IN WEEK 4

In Week 4 of NASL action, San Antonio's Zourab Tsiskaridze and Fort Lauderdale's José Angulo provided key moments

With three sellous in Week 4 – Atlanta, Indy, and Minnesota - of the North American Soccer League (NASL), there were several top performances at the weekend. Zourab Tsiskaridze scored a wonder strike, while José Angulo made a major impact in the Fort Lauderdale Strikers' victory over Ottawa Fury FC.
Here are five key moments from the action this past weekend:
1 – San Antonio’s Zourab Tsiskaridze had no intention of allowing Indy Eleven’s Sergio Peña to hog the spotlight for scoring goals from downtown, way downtown. The defending champions were desperate for points when they traveled to Blaine, Minn., Saturday night to face equally struggling Minnesota United. All Tsiskaridze did was get the visitors started in the eighth minute by scoring from a free kick from about 65 yards that caught goalkeeper Sammy Ndjock about six yards off his line. It is not the first time the midfielder from the nation of Georgia has scored from distance. The 2-2 draw gave the Scorpions their first point of the 2015 NASL Spring Season.
2 – Fort Lauderdale forward José Angulo made the most of his second start for the Strikers. Lurking at the far post, Angulo nudged home a goal from a corner kick just before halftime against host Ottawa Fury FC. With Ottawa pressing for an equalizer, the former New York Red Bulls and Pittsburgh Riverhounds striker stayed onside on the Strikers’ side of the field before running onto a long lead pass. His initial breakaway attempt was stopped by goalkeeper Romuald Desire Peiser, but Angulo tucked in his own rebound.
3 – Tampa Bay coach Thomas Rongen lambasted his team at halftime, and rightly so: The Rowdies were thoroughly outplayed and outscored by Jacksonville Armada FC, trailing 2-1 at intermission at Al Lang Stadium. The Rowdies got the message, shut down the Armada FC’s game on the flanks and scored twice – on goals by Martin Núñez and Maicon Santos (his second of the match) -- to win the Coastal Cup tilt. But the Rowdies were fortunate to escape with 3 points when starting goalkeeper Kamil Contofalsky was injured and forced from the game in second-half stoppage time. Veteran Matt Pickens came on cold, but thwarted several of Jacksonville’s attempts to equalize.
4 – New York’s Lucky Mkosana earned his first start of the season and showed some inventive flashes during his 66 minutes on the field, but the Cosmos failed to score a goal for the first time this season in a draw at Atlanta. New York has two draws in its three away games this season. With Raúl and his pals in town, the Silverbacks packed the stadium for the match but remain winless against the Cosmos in seven matches. With the draw, the first-place Cosmos remain on of three unbeaten sides, along with the Silverbacks and Indy Eleven.
5 – Another home game, another draw, another 1-1 final score. Indy Eleven was minutes away from pocketing all three points before Carolina’s Blake Wagner knotted the score in the 85th minute. Perhaps it was a bit of poetic justice because Indy received an own goal in the first 10 minutes of the game. The draw enabled Indy Eleven to increase its unbeaten streak, dating to last season, to nine games. The hosts again were missing the services of Brazilian World Cup veteran Kleberson, who has been dealing with a nagging hamstring injury that has sidelined him the entire season.
