GOALS IN PROTECTORS’ MINDS

Home United vs Courts Young Lions
(28 April, Tuesday, 7.30pm, Yishun Stadium)
A confident Home United will host Courts Young Lions at Yishun Stadium on Tuesday night after they held Albirex Niigata (S) to a scoreless draw at the same venue last week.

The Protectors pressed the White Swans constantly throughout the game and restricted the Japanese side from playing their usual free-flowing football to half the White Swans’ five-game winning run.
However, Philippe Aw will be concerned at his side’s inability to convert their chances in front of goal due to the lack of an out-and-out striker.
It is also not a coincidence that the Protectors have only won one game since their main target man Ken Ilso picked up an injury at the start of April.
In his absence, Home’s midfielders have largely lacked the killer instincts when a goal-scoring opportunity arises.
Aw points out that his young side will need time and practice before they can improve on their goal-scoring record.
“It's always about composure,” said Aw after the draw against the White Swans.
“Sometimes, for our younger players like Nur (Hizami) and Ambroise Begue, to play one level up, you get a little bit more excited. It comes with training and experience.
“I'm sure that as the season goes on, when they get the chance again, they will finish them off.
As for their opponents, the Young Lions are still winless after five games and find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table.
Their fortunes looked to have taken a turn for the better when they went into the break a goal up at half-time in their last game against Warriors FC. However, they couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended up losing 2-1.
The Singapore Under-23 side however, will go into their match against the Protectors taking comfort in the fact that they have only lost twice in their past five meetings.
The last match between both sides ended in the favour of the Young Lions, who won 3-0, courtesy of strikes from Shameer Aziz, Jordan Webb and Sahil Suhaimi. Home was also reduced to 10 men after substitute Yasir Hanapi received a second yellow card.
A similar result will allow the U23 side to rebuild their confidence and climb up the table.
Key Men To Watch

Home United: Ambroise Begue
In his last game against Albirex, the Frenchman did well to get into good positions, but was unable to finish either because of poor decision making or a lack of composure.
However, with his coach showing continued confidence and faith in him, Begue could find his scoring boots against the Young Lions.
Courts Young Lions: Adam Swandi
The midfielder was in fine form against Warriors, scoring once and coming close to getting a few more goals as well.
With his incisive passes and a keen eye for goal, Adam could yet be the spark that inspires his teammates to work hard and find the back of the net against the Protectors.
