The Portland Timbers return home to face a huge test in their aim to start moving up the Western Conference, when they take Eastern Conference leaders D.C. United on Wednesday evening at Providence Park. The Timbers concluded their three-game road swing with back-to-back losses, last a 1-0 defeat at Toronto FC, and now sit just off the foot of the West table. United remain atop the East despite a 1-1 with the New England Revolution last weekend that followed their first loss in nine games.
