Hope Solo is enjoying success on the soccer field, but her personal life is still a bit of a mess.
Hope Solo may be a star on the U.S. women's national soccer team, but her personal life is still fragile as she continues to deal with the scandals that have plagued her for the past year,
"It's been painful," Solo told People Magazine. "I almost lost my career. It's been traumatic and embarrassing."
Solo was arrested for attacking her half-sister and nephew last year at a party, and reports surfaced that she was belligerent and abusive toward responding officers. The case was later dismissed.
She was then thrust back into the spotlight in January when her husband, former NFL player Jerramy Stevens, was arrested for driving a U.S. Soccer van while drunk and Solo was a passenger. She was suspended from all U.S. team activities for 30 days.
The drama continued when Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) sent an open letter to U.S. soccer officials calling for Solo to be dismissed from the team.
"I wish my name was cleared," Solo said. "But people still believe I hit a child."
Solo is enjoying success during the Women's World Cup, with the U.S. winning Group D. However, the ordeal isn't far from her mind.
"It's been awful," Solo said. "But I am at peace."
