Sydney FC Re-Sign Player Of The Year
Dimitrijevic, who also won the Players’ Player of the Year and Members’ Player of the Year awards for season 2014/15, will remain a Sky Blues player for seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17, joining a formidable Sydney FC midfield unit.
The Serbian midfielder will look to add to his 37 Hyundai A-League appearances to date after joining the Sky Blues as an injury replacement player in January of season 2013/14, scoring two goals in 28 appearances in his most recent season as he propelled the Sky Blues towards a Hyundai A-League Grand Final appearance and Asian Champions League qualification.
Dimitrijevic said he was pleased to be linking up again with Head Coach Graham Arnold as he targeted building on the Sky Blues record breaking 2014/15 season this year.
“I’m really happy to be re-signing for Sydney FC,” he said.
“I thought long and hard during the off season about where I wanted to play my football and I am happy I have made the right decision.
“Working with Arnie again and competing in Asia were huge drawcards for staying.
“I can’t wait to see all of my team mates again and get back to working at a club like Sydney FC.”
Head Coach Graham Arnold said he was delighted to be able to retain the services of one of the finest midfielders in the Hyundai A-League.
“Milos is a quality player,” he said.
“His displays last season earned him the acclaim of his peers and fans and I believe he was one of the form players of the competition.
“To have Milos back strengthens our midfield immensely as we need a lot of quality and depth with a heavy program, a lot of players away for Olyroo duty and the Asian Champions League matches, plus A-League."”
Dimitrijevic will link up with his teammates in mid-August.
Sydney FC are in pre-season action against Macarthur Rams on Thursday night (kick off 7:30pm) at Campbelltown Sports Stadium. Tickets are available at the gate, with Adults priced at $10 and Children/Concessions at $5.

Galekovic: Our trust is with Amor
Adelaide United has completed its first training session under new manager, Guillermo Amor, and Reds’ captain, Eugene Galekovic, has firmly stated the entire club’s backing of the FC Barcelona legend in Amor’s training and game-preparation methods.
“Training was very similar to Josep’s and I know they (Josep and Guillermo) both worked really well together last season and they have a lot of things in common,” Galekovic said.
“So it won’t be too far off from last season with the way we play and the way we do things.
“Our game is still about playing and moving, keeping possession, and being ‘a block’ when we lose the ball and trying to win it back quickly.
“Guillermo is a great guy and was obviously involved last year. He’s very similar to Josep and he’s a lovely bloke and a great coach.”
Understandably, Galekovic spoke of his disappointment at the sudden departure of Gombau, but claimed positivity is surrounding the squad and Amor’s abilities to prepare and lead the team throughout the upcoming Hyundai A-League season.
“I was shocked, Galekovic explained. “I didn’t want believe that it was coming.
“But we have to move on. We have a great pre-season coming up now over the next few months and then a whole new season.
“We back Guillermo because he’s a champion bloke. We’ve had him last season and we know what he’s about. He’s got a very good reputation in the game and in Barcelona and the boys regard him really highly.
“We are just going to work hard and we’re really looking forward to the season. We’re really looking forward to working with him.”
Adelaide United will face South Australian NPL team Blue Eagles tomorrow night at the Marden Sports Complex (kick-off 7:00pm) in a friendly eight days before the club starts its Westfield FFA Cup title defence against Darwin Olympic in Darwin.

Mat Ryan: From Gosford to Valencia
We let the pics tell the story of Mat Ryan’s stunning rise from the youth team at Central Coast, to the Hyundai A-League, Socceroos, Belgium and now Spanish giants Valencia.
Donachie pumped for new season
An off-season gym program and a healthy diet has seen the central defender add 3kg to his 188cm frame and all of it is muscle and power.
“I feel very strong, very quick,” Donachie said after finishing another of the intense pre-season training sessions that have become part of Head Coach John Aloisi’s preparations for the upcoming Westfield FFA Cup tie with Western Sydney Wanderers FC at Penrith.
Donachie says he thrives in the one- and two-touch drills and has adapted quickly to the high-tempo game Aloisi has introduced to the Roar.
“It has helped to improve my passing at the back a lot,” Donachie said.
“The ball gets driven in and knocked around a lot harder than I was used to so you have to stay sharp and focused.
“I seem to be getting more time on the ball which is great and I can’t wait for us to try out the new structures in our FFA Cup game against the Wanderers.”
Last season Donachie established himself as a regular selection in the middle of the Roar defence – he played 18 Hyundai A-League games and four AFC Champions League matches and scored his first two goals for the club.
He is looking for an even bigger season ahead, particularly as a member of the Australian under-23 squad that in January will bid for qualification to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
“Playing football at the Olympics in Brazil – that’s definitely something to look forward to,” Donachie said.

Donachie’s new season has already started well with a strong performance in the Roar’s highly commended 2-1 loss to Liverpool FC.
Donachie only found time to watch a recording of the game last weekend and says the enormity of it all finally sunk in.
“I didn’t think too much about it at the time but when I watched it back I realised how many people were there and what the atmosphere was like,” he said.
“It was awesome . . . something I will remember for the rest of my life.”
