Today, two soccer giants will face off in the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany for the 2015 Audi Cup Final. Sporting red and white, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid defeated their opponents AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals and are putting their game faces on for the match.
The Audi Cup is a two day tournament that takes place every other year during pre-season and is hosted at the Allianz Arena in Germany. It began as a form of celebration by German car manufacturer, Audi, in honor of reaching 100 years of trade. The first one was in 2009 and hosts Bayern Munich were the ones to win it. The second one, in 2011, was won by Spain’s FC Barcelona. The third, in 2013, was again won by Bayern Munich, and this year marks the fourth tournament of its kind. But who will win it? The hosts or the visiting Real Madrid?
It is hard to say, since both sides are home to key players and have shown a strong drive in their pre-season friendlies.
Bayern Munich seems to carry a new rhythm with them now that they have new gems in their squad such as Arturo Vidal and Douglas Costa. Vidal and Costa have brought a highly satisfying level of energy to Bayern’s pace and grouped with stars like Robert Lewandowski, Bayern is more than ready to shine today. In thesemi-final against AC Milan, Bayern won 3-0 with goals by Lewandowski, Mario Götze, and Juan Bernat. It is clear that Bayern put their best forward and are ready to do so once more in the final, despite it being pre-season.
Real Madrid does not fall behind in intensity. With stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and James Rodriguez, Los Blancos are also ready to shine today, Wednesday. In their semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur, they won 2-0 with goals by James Rodriguez and Gareth Bale and showed discipline and focus in their play.
It is true that neither of the teams feel comfortable with losses, so it is very likely that they will offer everything they have on the pitch tomorrow. But despite what happens during that match, the truth is that it is still a friendly and both of the teams have their focus on their league games that are coming up this month. Good luck to both teams!
