Hiroshima: Kashiwa Reysol moved to within a point of the J.League top spot after a Cristiano hat-trick saw the 2015 AFC Champions League quarter-finalists defeat former leaders Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-0 on Sunday.
Cristiano, who is on loan to Kashiwa from J.League rivals Venforet Kofu, opened the scoring just three minutes into Kashiwa’s seventh match in the second stage of the season, as the visitors got off to the perfect start at the Hiroshima Big Arch.
The Brazilian, who bagged a brace in Kashiwa’s epic 4-4 draw with Shandong Luneng in China during the Group Stage of this year’s ACL (pictured), added a second in the 62nd minute before sealing the former league leaders’ second defeat of the season with his and Kashiwa’s third with 13 minutes remaining.
Kashiwa had climbed from sixth to third following their 2-0 win over Vissel Kobe last Wednesday and Sunday’s while they remain third, their impressive away win saw the the Chiba side join Sanfrecce on 15 points, just one behind table-topping Kashima Antlers.
Kashima take on Matsumoto Yamaga on Thursday in their last domestic fixture ahead of the first leg of their AFC Champions League quarter-final clash 2013 continental champions Guangzhou Evergrande on August 25.
