Indian Super League: Mumbai City FC reveal new jersey

before Dubai trip

The Ranbir Kapoor co-owned franchise confirmed that they will play a few friendlies in Dubai during their pre-season tour.
Mumbai CIty FC, who had finished seventh in the inaugural season of Indian Super League (ISL), revealed their new colours on Saturday, after amassing the signatures of a number of high-profile footballers in the last couple of months.
"I looked at myself in the mirror 10 times after wearing this jersey. I love it," Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the India national team seemed impressed with the new design.
Former Chelsea and Real Madrid player Nicolas Anelka, who will be the player-manager of the franchise this season, stressed that the franchise will be desparate to improve their performance this season.
"We have a great squad this season so we are going to give our best out on the pitch. We want to do better than last season. We want to win this year's ISL. The new head coach role will be tough (for me) but we have a big squad and a better team this year," Anelka said.
Mumbai City's CEO Indranil Das Blah confirmed that the team will play a few friendly games as part of their pre-season training in Dubai.
"Our pre-season will take place in Dubai. In terms of weather, training facilities, I think Dubai will be the ideal location. For pre-season, we'll be playing three-to-four matches against some of the Dubai based teams," he informed.
Ranbir Kapoor, the co-owner of the team also sounded hopeful about the team's chances in the upcoming competition.
"We couldn't have put together a better team this season. Anelka was heavily involved in picking this year's side. We have some superstars that people look up to. You're going to see a lot of passion and hunger from us," he told.

'Chennaiyin FC is a very good team' - Mehrajuddin Wadoo

The former FC Pune City defender was overjoyed at signing for Chennaiyin FC for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season...
Mehrajuddin Wadoo was picked up by Chennaiyin FC from the open market after turning out for FC Pune City in the inaugural Indian Super League (ISL) season.

The 31-year-old who had turned out for Bharat FC in last season's I-League spoke on the Star Network's Let's Football programme.

He could not hide his excitement at being picked by Marco Materazzi's side and said they were unlucky to miss out on a semi-final berth last season.
"Chennaiyin FC is a very good team. At one point of time they seemed like they would be champions but unfortunately they missed out in the semi-finals," he commented.

Talking about his new team-mates, the former Mohun Bagan man praised Bernard Mendy's contribution to the defense.
"All of the players are great. You know how we scored the goals. Mendy too was very good in defense. I’m very excited to play with such great players," he remarked.
"It was a great experience. I got to play with players I always dreamed of. I always learned some good things from them," was what Wadoo said recounting his experience with FC Pune City in season one.
He signed off by asking fans to continue their support for the Abhishek Bachchan co-owned team.
"Just keep supporting us like you did last year. The fans were excellent and the stadiums were full. The team is good and I’m looking forward to the next edition of the ISL," he concluded.
