Newly-married Vortis defender Hashiuchi out for month

Tokushima Vortis defender Yuya Hashiuchi revealed he will rely on his wife’s support as he begins recovering from a dislocated left elbow.
The MEIJI YASUDA J2 League side on Thursday announced that the newly-married Hashiuchi will be out for a month after getting injured in the clash against Mito Hollyhock on August 8th.
“With my wife’s support I hope to heal quickly and return to the pitch as soon as possible,” the 28-year-old commented.
Former Sanfrecce Hiroshima youth player Hashiuchi joined Vortis in 2011 and is closing on 100 official appearances for the club.

Tokyo beats Gamba for third straight win

Nathan Burns scored the winner and created the opener as FC Tokyo defeated Japanese treble-winner Gamba Osaka 2-1 for its third straight victory in the J. League second stage on Sunday.

Takuji Yonemoto put Tokyo on the board early thanks to Burns before Patric erased the lead on the other side of halftime. But Massimo Ficcadenti’s side had the last laugh as Burns netted his second goal in Japan midway through the second half.
“It was a great bit of passenger play, a bit of combination and I just put my head on it,” the Australian international said of his 58th-minute strike.
“I was in the right place at the right time to get the winning goal. The hardest thing for a striker is to get into the box with the work rate involved so I was happy to be in that position.
“We’ve had some good results the last couple of games. I think this game was one of the most important games and I hope we can continue with our winning ways and have a good run for the (playoffs).”
Tokyo, on 13 points from seven games, closed to within three points of the stage lead with the win while Asian Champions League quarterfinalist Gamba fell seven points off the pace of Kashima Antlers, who beat Vegalta Sendai 3-2 at home for their fourth successive victory.
At Ajinomoto Stadium, where the game was hit by an intense downpour minutes before kickoff, Japan defender Masato Morishige took the first stab of the game after 12 minutes, calling his international teammate Masaaki Higashiguchi into action with a stinging free kick from 25 meters out.
Tokyo broke through three minutes later, though, when Burns blew by defender Keisuke Iwashita before cutting back to Yonemoto, who arrived late in the box to open his season account from close range.
“We hadn’t really gotten into momentum so it was good to get the early goal,” Burns recalled. “It was a good play for Yone to get into the box as a midfielder and it was a very good goal overall.”
Gamba nearly pulled level in the 19th minute, but Takashi Usami was denied by Tokyo’s veteran custodian Tatsuya Enomoto, and the two sides continued to exchange punches as Hiroki Kawano clanked the bar for the hosts shortly past the half-hour.
The champions made it 1-1 after the break in the 47th minute, when Usami swung the ball to right-back Koki Yonekura, who set up Patric for the equalizer from point-blank range.
But Tokyo restored its advantage shortly before the hour on the counterattack with Yonemoto leading the way. Yonemoto laid off to the right for Naotake Hanyu, who crossed for the far post, where Burns dove in for a header.
Gamba created plenty of chances to turn the game around, but Patric didn’t have his usual finishing touch and Shu Kurata hit the post with a quarter-hour remaining.
Gamba boss Kenta Hasegawa made no excuses for the defeat.
“We deserved to lose today,” Hasegawa said. “After we equalized we had enough opportunities but we just didn’t take them. We know FC Tokyo are a strong team on the counterattack but we didn’t defend them properly.
“It’s one thing if we lose while doing everything that we had to do, but that wasn’t the case tonight. Clearly we have plenty of room for improvement. We are getting better in some areas but we need to be more accurate in front of goal.”
Elsewhere in J1, Sanfrecce Hiroshima lost at home again, this time 3-0 to Kashiwa Reysol. Both Hiroshima and Kashiwa are one point behind Kashima.
First-stage winners Urawa Reds edged Shonan Bellmare 1-0 at Saitama, and Nagoya Grampus defeated Matsumoto Yamaga 1-0 away. Vissel Kobe ended a three-game skid by beating Kawasaki Frontale 2-0, Shimizu S-Pulse picked up their first point under new coach Kazuaki Tasaka in a 1-1 home draw to Albirex Niigata, and Yokohama F. Marinos sank Ventforet Kofu 2-0 at home.
Sagan Tosu beat Montedio Yamagata 3-1.

Cristiano crushes Sanfrecce as Antlers go top

Cristiano’s hat-trick inspired Kashiwa Reysol to a stunning 3-0 win against Sanfrecce Hiroshima to go level on points with their hosts, who endured their second MEIJI YASUDA J1 League loss in a row on Sunday.
The Brazilian’s brilliance handed Reysol their fifth win in their last six games and confined Sanfrecce’s previous five-game winning streak at the start of the second stage to distant memory, despite them dominating Sunday’s clash in terms of chances created.
Cristiano gave an ominous sign of what was to come on the evening when he opened the scoring with just three minutes gone, squirming free to fire a shot on goal that goalkeeper Takuto Hayashi should have prevented from trickling across his goal line.
With his outfit coming under increasing pressure in the second half, Cristiano took matters into his own hands by curling a long-range effort into the net to double their lead in spectacular fashion after the hour mark.
Hajime Moriyasu’s men could not find a response also thanks to the heroics of Reysol custodian Takanori Sugeno, and were powerless to prevent Cristiano’s third when he met Kim Chang-soo’s cross with a firm header after Yoshifumi Kashiwa gave the ball away.
Their clinical showing moves the AFC Champions League quarter-finalists up to third in the second stage, while Kashima Antlers roared into first place with an enthralling 3-2 comeback win over Vegalta Sendai.
Takuya Nozawa immediately sent the visitors into a two-goal lead, the veteran’s third-minute opener coming from an excellent display of skill within the box before he volleyed Vegalta’s second home inside the first half hour.
However, they were unable to hold out against Antlers’ subsequent siege and Shuto Yamamoto headed in to halve the deficit just before the break.
The hosts, now on a four-game winning streak under Masatada Ishii’s leadership, left it late to nab the win as Shoma Doi netted twice in the 82nd and 87th minute, bringing out relief and joy amongst the Kashima Stadium faithful.
Earlier, Nathan Burns was busy endearing himself to the FC Tokyo support, with his goal and assist crucial to his side’s 2-1 victory over Gamba Osaka.
The July arrival from Wellington Phoenix delivered a precise cut-back from the flank for Takuji Yonemoto to tap in Tokyo’s first before being perfectly placed to head in the winner, after Patric had temporarily equalised for Gamba.
Urawa Reds thanked Tomoaki Makino for his goal in their hard-fought 1-0 win over Shonan Bellmare, while Yokohama F. Marinos likewise celebrated their second victory in a row with a 2-0 result against Ventforet Kofu.
Montedio Yamagata were still unable to grab their first win of the second stage and succumbed 3-1 to Sagan Tosu at home, with Matsumoto Yamagata meanwhile suffering a 1-0 defeat to Nagoya Grampus for their third straight loss.
Shimizu S-Pulse’s see-saw form resulted in them having to fight back to draw 1-1 thanks to Genki Omae’s equaliser against Albirex Niigata at IAI Stadium.
Finally, Vissel Kobe’s Leandro ended a streak of five games without a goal against Kawasaki Frontale, looping his header from a corner over Shota Arai before Kazuma Watanabe left the keeper with no chance with a volley inside the box for a final score of 2-0.
