Silvio Berlusconi would welcome Zlatan Ibrahimovic back at Milan as he promises to continue spending.
Milan president Silvio Berlusconi says Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be welcomed back to San Siro "with open arms" were he to return from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Sweden captain has been linked with leaving the Parc des Princes - MLS and Milan both reported as potential destinations - with his contract due to expire in 2016.
The 33-year-old spent two seasons with Milan, where he won the Scudetto, and would bolster a front line already strengthened with the likes of Carlos Bacca and Luiz Adriano.
Speaking after Milan's Coppa Italia success against Perugia on Monday, Berlusconi also made reference to Ibrahimovic's outburst against referees last term in which he appeared to criticise France, although the Swede later clarified it related to football matters only.
"If Ibrahimovic wants to come to Milan, we would welcome him with open arms," he told reporters.
"Ibrahimovic has had a very difficult stay in France because of his sentence that caused a negative reaction among the French public."
Alessio Romagnoli and Andrea Bertolacci have also strengthened Milan's hopes of challenging for the title this term during Sinisa Mihajlovic's debut campaign at the club.
"I decided to invest because we have to get back to the glories of the past," Berlusconi added.

Ronaldo back in Real squad, Benzema misses out

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to feature in Real Madrid's final friendly before the Liga season kicks off.
Cristiano Ronaldo is back in Real Madrid's squad for Tuesday's Santiago Bernabeu Trophy clash with Galatasaray, but the injured Karim Benzema remains absent.
The pair missed Real's Audi Cup matches in Munich as Ronaldo was suffering a back problem while Benzema injured his thigh.
Ronaldo returned to training last week and had never been a doubt for Real's competitive opener against Sporting Gijon on Sunday, although Benzema's thigh problem appears more troublesome.
The France international – who continues to be linked with Arsenal – is not in the squad for Tuesday's clash, with Raphael Varane (muscular) and Pepe (leg) also out injured.

Pique awaits verdict following 'whore mother' rant

Barcelona are awaiting Gerard Pique's potential punishment following his foul-mouthed rant during the Supercopa de Espana.
Gerard Pique is facing a possible suspension after he was sent off during Barcelona's Supercopa de Espana second leg on Monday having told an assistant referee: "I s*** on your whore mother".
The Barcelona defender was dismissed early in the second half of the draw against Athletic Bilbao at Camp Nou as his side were beaten 5-1 on aggregate.
The rant could land Pique in hot water, with the details of his outburst reported in referee Velasco Carballo's report – the centre-back having raged at the lack of an offside decision against Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz.
Pique's comments could earn him a suspension of between four and 12 games, with a decision expected before the end of the week.
He will also miss Sunday's La Liga opener against Bilbao at San Mames.

German football mourns Mayer-Vorfelder

The honorary president of the German Football Association Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder has died at the age of 82.
Former German Football Association (DFB) president Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder has died. He was 82.
Mayer-Vorfelder worked as a politician for the Christian Democratic Union in Baden-Wurttemberg, serving as the finance minister until 1998. By then he had already carved out a career in football administration, and led Stuttgart to two Bundesliga titles in 1984 and 1992 as president.
He became head of the DFB in 2001 and spearheaded the country's hosting of the World Cup in 2006. He also served two terms on the FIFA executive committee and was UEFA vice-president from 2007-09.
He died in a Stuttgart hospital and is survived by his wife Margit and his four children.
DFB president Wolfgang Niersbach led the tributes on Tuesday, telling www.dfb.de: "On behalf of the DFB and also personally I would like to express my deepest condolences to his wife Margit and his entire family.
"Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder has been an influential figure in German football. I got to know him over the years as a straight, resolute and competent person who has worked with great dedication to the sport and thereby always had the needs of players in mind."

Luis Enrique cannot wait until 'damned' transfer window shuts

Luis Enrique has been forced to discuss Pedro's future throughout the transfer window, which closes on August 31 in Spain.
Barcelona coach Luis Enrique admitted he cannot wait for the transfer window to close amid the ongoing speculation surrounding Manchester United target Pedro.
Pedro is nearing a move to Old Trafford as reports claim the Spain international forward has agreed personal terms with United.
The situation has proved a distraction, according to Luis Enrique, who is counting down the days until August 31, when the window shuts in Spain.
"It's a difficult situation, it's hard to be focused," Luis Enrique said after Barcelona drew 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao on Monday, losing 5-1 on aggregate in the Supercopa de Espana.
"I am just hoping that this damned transfer window closes once and for all to know which players I can count on. But Pedro gave his all."
Barca, who are unable to register and field new players until January, have recruited Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan, while Xavi, Gerard Deulofeu and Ibrahim Afellay have left Camp Nou.

Nuno focuses on Monaco clash amid Otamendi talk

Valencia boss Nuno expects Nicolas Otamendi's future to be resolved soon.
Valencia coach Nuno expects an update on Nicolas Otamendi's possible move to Manchester City in the near future and is focusing his attention on Wednesday's UEFA Champions League play-off against Monaco.
Argentina centre-half Otamendi is thought to be in England discussing the details of a move to the Etihad Stadium having enjoyed a stellar season as Valencia finished fourth in La Liga.
That earned them a Champions League berth and a clash with Monaco – the winners will advance to the lucrative group stage – and Nuno insists his thoughts are firmly on that tie.
He said at Tuesday's press conference: "I understand that you want to ask about Otamendi, but I ask you to respect this press conference because the match is very important. We've been preparing for the match without Otamendi for some days and that's the most important thing.
"The level of training is still great and we are excited about tomorrow. The players are only focused on the opponents."
When pressed, he added: "The issue of Otamendi is being dealt with by the club. We will know the outcome soon, but my job is to focus on tomorrow's game.
"Until it is all finalised we cannot think about signing another player. The club has the necessary procedures for it and we trust in the players that remain."
Otamendi was arguably the stand-out defender in La Liga last season and his possible departure will leave a large hole in the Valencia defence.
Nevertheless, Nuno has set his players the target of a clean sheet against Monaco at Mestalla.
"Monaco are a great team with players of great quality," he said. "We are ready, we have done all the preparation to compete, but we know it will be difficult. We play in front of our fans, but we know the tie will not be resolved [in Wednesday's first leg].
"Certainly keeping a clean sheet is very important. The away goals play a vital role, but we must not think about that. We are at home, we want to play our game and go for goals. We want to be in the Champions League."

QPR will not move on Austin valuation - Ramsey

Charlie Austin's transfer saga continues to rumble on, with QPR head coach Chris Ramsey unwilling to move on the club's valuation.
Chris Ramsey insists QPR have no intention of budging on their valuation of striker Charlie Austin.
Austin enjoyed a fine debut season in the Premier League in 2014-15, but his return of 18 goals in 35 appearances was not enough to prevent QPR from being relegated.
The former Burnley and Swindon Town player has been linked with the likes of Leicester City, West Ham and Crystal Palace throughout the transfer window, but QPR director of football Les Ferdinand said on Monday that only "two firm bids" had been made and neither met his price tag.
Head coach Ramsey reiterated his belief that Austin will leave to boost his chances of making England's squad for Euro 2016, but is refusing to move on their valuation – thought to be £15million.
"He scored 18 goals last season in a team that didn't do well so we think we have priced him reasonably in order for him to reach his ambitions," Ramsey told talkSPORT.
"There or thereabouts of what we have mentioned we need to stick to that because QPR as a club need the finances to rebuild and be able to compete in the Championship and set targets for this season and seasons beyond.
"Once you have tasted that top level, you want to get back there. From my point of view, I don't think I would be being very honest with him if I said to him to stay in the Championship and forget your ambitions.
"We are saying to him we are a club that are looking to do well, we are looking to get some solid foundations, and he can be part of that.
"He is a folk hero and the fans would love to see him stay but ultimately I would imagine he wants to play at the highest level he can and try to get himself in that England squad for the Euros."
