The 2015 edition of the AFC Champions League is already the most-watched version of the event ever, after the attendance figures for this season's event passed the two million mark after the first legs of the various quarter-finals.
Ahead of this week's quarter-final second leg matches, the attendance figure for this season stands at 2,034,841, surpassing the record of viewers 2,021,025 set in 2013.
"These figures show the increasing interest in the AFC’s competitions. Whilst we were of course thrilled to see the numbers, this didn’t come as a surprise," acting AFC general secretary Windsor John said
"This year’s AFC Champions League has already had some very exciting matches, and everyone is looking forward to the season finale, with the two legs of the final on November 7 and November 21."
Iran giants Persepolis are once again the most-watched team in the competition, with more than 100,000 spectators watching their Group A encounters with Bunyodkor and Al Nassr at the Azadi Stadium.
The Tehran club's last 16 match against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal also attracted a similar number of fans.
