"We showed that we wanted to win this game," said coach Marc Thomé after his FC Differdange 03 side edged F91 Dudelange on penalties to retain the Luxembourger Cup.

FC Differdange 03 have retained the Luxembourger Cup after defeating F91 Dudelange 3-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the final at the Stade Josy Barthel.

n a repeat of last year's decider, which Differdange won 2-0, Dudelange took the lead on 20 minutes when a shot from Kevin Malget deflected in via unfortunate defender Tom Siebenaler. The lead was quickly wiped out, though, as Siebenaler redeemed himself from around 70 metres out, Dudelange goalkeeper Jonathan Joubert slipping to allow Differdange to level.
Dudelange's Stélvio was dismissed in extra time after picking up his second yellow card, but Differdange were unable to make their numerical advantage count in the remaining 20 minutes. Nevertheless, they held their nerve from the spot in the shoot-out, with goalkeeper Julien Weber denying both Malget and Donovan Maury, while Yassine Benajiba missed the target.
"It would have been a shame to end this great season without a title," said Differdange coach Marc Thomé. "The goals in this final weren't normal goals, but that's football. We showed that we wanted to win this game at all costs, and we did it."
