The exodus from Aalen continues. This time, Braunschweig are the beneficiary.
Following on from Adam Matuschyk's arrival, Eintracht Braunschweig confirmed that VfR Aalen defender, Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, would be joining the club next season.
The Ghanian has been one of the rare bright sparks for the 2. Bundesliga's bottom club, playing in all but two of their games this season. Ofosu-Ayeh also notched up a goal and two assists in their relegation from the division.
He's signed a two-year deal with Torsten Lieberknecht's side and will replace the out-going Benjamin Kessel, who is heading to 1. FC Union Berlin. Speaking at his unveiling press conference on Tuesday, the 23-year-old said: "I had very good conversations with the board, who convinced me from the outset.
"For me, the decision to come to Braunschweig was very easy. I grew up in the north and I'm excited to be back, though the decision was from a sporting perspective. Braunschweig are a top team and I wanted to go for the best opportunity," added Ofosu-Ayeh.
The Braunschweig sporting director, Marc Arnold, was also present at the press conference: "Phil has joined us for free," he confirmed."We've known Phil since his time at Erfurt; where he demonstrated his goal-scoring abilities, by scoring against us. We are very pleased to have signed him."
