Liverpool FC appreciates the dedication and loyalty of our travelling fans. Ahead of the game at the weekend, there's a message from the official match commander:
"As the match commander for the forthcoming Manchester United v Liverpool fixture this Saturday, I would like to offer a welcome to all Liverpool fans attending the game.
"The aim is to ensure that everyone enjoys the match and the day passes off safely. Recent league fixtures at Old Trafford between United and Liverpool have passed without incident and this is something that I hope we can achieve again for this game.
"Many issues experienced by fans can be overcome by effective communication and in order to build upon good relations from previous seasons, I have already met with the Football Supporters’ Federation, Spirit of Shankly, Liverpool FC Supporters’ Committee and Manchester United Supporters’ Trust to talk through some aspects of the policing operation.
"If any of the Liverpool fans have any questions ahead of the fixture about the policing operation, then please let either these supporters’ groups or the clubs know. We will be in touch in the days leading up to the match and I will do my best to provide an update. In terms of key messages, I would like all the visiting Liverpool fans to be aware of the following points:
1. You cannot drink alcohol on the street in Manchester city centre or Trafford (the borough where the ground is) and this will be enforced around the stadium for home and away fans. Since implementing this policy it has stopped groups of supporters congregating at certain locations which created a hostile atmosphere for visiting fans and families.
2. There are no pubs in the area of the ground which cater for visiting supporters.
3. Liverpool fans will be able to get a drink in the ground - a maximum of two alcoholic drinks per visit to bar per person - it is the same policy for home fans in the East Stand. Turnstiles open at 3.30pm and fans will be able to buy food and drink.
4. All drinks (including soft drinks) will be decanted and these arrangements are the same for home fans situated near to the segregation line.
5. I would like to remind all supporters that pyrotechnics are dangerous and are not welcome by the majority of fans. It is an offence to enter a stadium with such an item and those engaging in this behaviour risk arrest, prosecution and also a banning order.
6. Potentially there may well be a holdback at the end of the game – all fans will be updated about this during the game by public address announcements in the stadium. We will minimise the duration of this as far as we can but I feel it has been successful in recent league games at minimising any issues on the forecourt. During any holdback, the police will work closely with the stewards, and we will do our best to ensure that fans can access toilet facilities during any holdback. This will need to be done in a controlled manner to help regulate the numbers accessing the toilets at any one time.
"As always, the TV cameras and media will be focused on one of the biggest club fixtures in the world. I hope that supporters from both sides act in a responsible manner and enjoy the game, no matter what the result."

And he's keen to use his experience to take on a new role helping younger players at the club.

'Footballer or not, after 30 is a big part of your life,' Koscielny, who has made 150 Premier League appearances for Arsenal, told the club website.
'For a footballer it is important as you are closer to the end of your career than you are to the start.
'But, I feel like a young man.

Arsene Wenger delivers message to Arsenal fans after failing to sign striker

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told the club’s fans to forget about the transfer window and to get behind the current squad.

“I can understand everybody’s hope but if you look at what happened on the transfer market it tells you there is a shortage out there,” he said. “The solutions we had were not convincing at all. You do not buy to give false hope, you buy because the players who come in can make your team stronger. “We looked but you have to find an efficient solution. The players we have know what they need to do. They have ability, they have ambition and we need to stand behind them. “To support the club and support them team is to stand behind the players. It is not always expecting someone coming down from heaven to sort out all your problems. Support is believing in the players in the squad and this is a good opportunity to do that for our supporters. Wenger believes the trio of Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott are good enough and will score enough goals to fire the Gunners to the title. “We have Sanchez, Giroud and Walcott. We have quality and can score goals,” he said. “Of course I am confident that we have enough quality and cover. “The good news about the window shutting is that finally we can talk about football.” Giroud in particular has struggled recently. The Frenchman scored a stunning goal against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park but was booed off the pitch on international duty with France after missing three chances. Wenger believes the striker will bounce back from that and will find the net on a regular basis this season. “He has my full support,” he said. “It’s difficult for any player after they miss chances. “I’m confident we can score goals, I have no worries about that.”

Injury scare for Chelsea ahead of Everton as key man injured in training

The 23-year-old, who has regained his place at Stamford Bridge after his red card against Swansea, kept a clean sheet on Sunday as the Belgians ran out 1-0 winners over Cyprus. But Kristof Terreur, of Belgian newspaper HLN, reports that the former Atletico Madrid man suffered a knee injury in training on Wednesday and the full extent of the problem is currently unknown. Courtois is yet to keep a clean sheet for Chelsea this season and was forced to sit out their 3-0 loss to Manchester City through suspension. Asmir Begovic will be on standby and will start if Courtois is not available to face Everton away this weekend as the Blues search for their second Premier League win of the season. The Blues need three points and Jose Mourinho could make some changes to get it, with new-boy Baba Rahman likely to come in for Branislav Ivanovic. With Oscar still a doubt, Willian is likely to play in midfield with Pedro and Eden Hazard as Diego Costa is trusted to lead the line.

Man Utd players protest against Louis van Gaal as tensions rise

Manchester United players have protested about the stifling regime of Louis van Gaal which they feel is having a damaging affect on performances, according to the Daily Mail.
Senior members of the squad have become disillusioned at the strict nature of the Dutchman that allows no room for self expression, which has been reflected in the bland showings on the pitch and lack of attacking intent.

Captain Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick were said to have approached Van Gaal after the Tottenham match where they managed just one shot on goal and only won thanks to an own goal that Kyle Walker knew nothing about.
The atmosphere at the club has taken a dramatic turn for the worse with players and staff also not allowed to eat together.
“Nobody is allowed to take a chance,” a source told the Mail. “They feel like they are wearing straitjackets. Everything is in zones. It’s a case of ‘you can only go this far’. The feeling is that they are being turned into robots.
“Everything is structured. The manager enjoys a laugh but they rarely see that on the training ground. It’s a case of you work here and you have a laugh outside.
“He is set in his ways. Because they have worked before he is unwilling to change them.”
Van Gaal has been accused by a number of players who departed this summer of being the main reason for their exit, including Angel Di Maria, Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez.
Pedro was even reported to have snubbed United because of the former Bayern Munich coach’s actions over Victor Valdes.
