Liga MX and MLS teams are dominating the CONCACAF Champions League this year as most of the teams from both of those leagues are passing to the knockout rounds. So far, three teams from the MLS have tickets for the next phase with only one Mexican team, but the three more Mexican teams are expected to pass as well.
As reported on Friday, Liga MX teams are on track to take the cake while the MLS has already taken a huge piece of the pie. As of Thursday evening, the LA Galaxy, DC United, and Seattle Sounders have already won their respective groups in the Champions League, while Queretaro from Mexico has also done the same.
Group A has a difficult prediction since Santos Laguna from Mexico and Saprissa from Costa Rica are tied with six points each. However, Santos is favored since the last match between the two is being played in Mexico. The first match in Costa Rica, Saprissa won 2-1, but the Costa Rican team blew it when they lost to W Connection from Trinidad and Tobago.
From Group B, it is speculated that Tigres UANL will have the last laugh in that group since they get to host the second place team Herediano from Costa Rica. Tigres is also ahead by three points, and Herediano would have to win in Mexico which is very difficult to do. Both of these teams tied 1-1 in Costa Rica back in August.
Group E is a bit tough as well since America from Mexico has to play their last game as visitors against Motagua from Honduras. However, Motagua trails by three points and needs to win with a lot of goals since America has a goal differential of +7. Also, America won the first match against Motagua 4-0 in Mexico back in early August.
Last but not least, Real Salt Lake from the MLS has the lead in Group G, but needs to make sure they do not lose in the last game of the group against Municipal from Guatemala, who trails by three points. The first meeting back in August was played in Utah and Real Salt Lake won with a lone goal.
These last games for all the groups are going to be played in the last weeks of October. So far, the Mexican teams, Liga MX, and America teams, MLS, will most likely dominate and pass through to the next round. The only surprise that is speculated to make a possible surprise in the last games is Saprissa beating Santos and becoming the only team from Central America to pass through.

Whitecaps Love Canada

WFC2's Caleb Clarke and Jackson Farmer named to Canada's Olympic qualifying team.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC2's (F) Caleb Clarke and (D) Jackson Farmer have been called up to Canada's 20-man roster for CONCACAF Olympic qualifying.  The tournament, which includes eight CONCACAF nations, is scheduled to start on October 1st at Sporting Park in Kansas City, MO.  Also selected to the Canadian team is former Whitecap Ben Fisk, who now plays for RC Deportivo La Coruňa in Spain.
The CONCACAF Olympic qualifying championship consists of two groups of four teams, with the top two teams automatically qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  The third place team can still advance to the Olympic soccer tournament, but would have to so by beating COMNEBOL's Colombia, who finished second in South America's Youth Football Championship.
