  • Sam Allardyce organised a quiz night before England faced Slovakia
  • The evening saw some players say they were too young to answer
  • England went on to win the game in Slovakia thanks to Adam Lallana

  • England players were left flummoxed at Sam Allardyce’s specially arranged quiz night last month, claiming they were too young to know the answers.
In his attempts to put the fun back into the England camp after their demoralising Euro 2016 campaign, Allardyce organised the evening at St George’s Park ahead of the World Cup qualification win over Slovakia.
In addition to the football related questions, players and staff were asked about various topics during a night that, on the whole, went down a storm.

One round included memorable quotes from TV shows with contestants asked which programmes the passages came from.
But when it came to the football round, members of the squad were left baffled by some of the questions which revolved around football from decades ago.
Whether it was a cunning plan by Allardyce to outfox his squad is unclear, but even if it was, his ploy backfired as Sam’s team were beaten by a group of medical staff.
On Monday, Sportsmail revealed how the branding slogans, such as ‘the journey starts here’ that Allardyce was at pains to put up at St George’s Park, were being removed as the remnants of the 61-year-old’s short reign start to disappear.
