Paolo Maldini is a retired football player born in 1968 in Milan, Italy. He came through the youth ranks of Milan and having graduated he was promoted to the senior team and spent his entire career. He made his first team debut on 20 January 1985 when he was 16 years old. The following season he was in the starting XI. In 1987/88 Milan won Scudetto, between 1992 and 1996 Milan claimed four consecutive Serie A victories, then they became the champions in 1998/99 and 2003/04. In 2002/03 they won Coppa Italia.
Maldini was a part of the team winning European Cup wich then was renamed into Champions League in 1988/89, 1989/90, 1993/94, 2002/03, 2006/07. Milan won UEFASuper Cup in 1989, 1990, 1994, 2003 and 2007. In 2007 they won FIFA Club World Cup.
Paolo Maldini was called up to play for the Italy U21 team and earned 12 caps. At that time the U21 team was managed by his father Cesare Maldini, a retired football player. Paolo made his Italy national squad debut in a 1-1 draw against Yugoslavia on 31 March 1988. In 2002 he retired as an international by that time having made 126 appearances and scored 7 goals.
