Crystal Palace

Hennessey 7 – Made two crucial saves when United tried to assert ascendancy in the first half.
Ward 6 – Tested by the pace and strength of Martial down the Palace right flank but stuck to his task
Dann 8 – Booked. A colossus in the face of United's early pressure. Not the first central defender to find Marcus Rashford a handful.
Delaney 7 – Booked. Like Dann, needed to be strong when United came forward and was a dominant force in the air.

Souare 6 – Exposed somewhat by the trickery of Mata and the surges from right back by Valencia.
Cabaye 7 – Crafty when he needed to be. Great passer – but lucky to escape the referee's attention when he trod on Rashford.
Jedinak 7 – Involved in a fascinating dual with Fellaini. It was the beard against the extravagant hair-do. Compulsive viewing.

Zaha 7 – Stretched Rojo at every opportunity. A man with a point to prove and he was always a threat with his pace.
McArthur 6 – Booked. Not at his most influential in midfield. Worked hard but lacked the class of Rooney and Carrick.
Bolasie 6 – Was dangerous when Palace managed to get support to him. One superb header brought the best from De Gea.

Wickham 6 – Has a turn of speed many have not seen. One surge had Smalling struggling and the United man was booked for a foul.
Subs
Puncheon 7 (for Cabaye, 71) - Brought more thrust to the Palace attack and it paid off in emphatic fashion.
Gayle (for Wickham 86)
Mariappa (for Dann, 90)

Manchester United

De Gea 7 – Once again, the Spaniard was United's hero in the first half when he tipped over a goal-bound header from Bolasie.
Valencia 6 – Supported the attack when he was given the chance. Palace had to be alert to his speed and power.
Smalling 6 – SENT OFF . An early booking proved troublesome as he saw red in extra-time for fouling Bolasie.

Blind 6 – A gifted technical player without question. But there remains a question mark against his physical prowess in the English game.
Rojo 6 – Booked. Had his hands full coping with the menace of Zaha. Needed to show all his experience to cope with the danger.

Carrick 6 – Solid and effective. But – unusually - he gave the ball away when not under pressure. Still a huge asset to United.
Fellaini 7 – Booked. See Jedinak. It was a great tussle between the pair. He escaped once to hit the post with a fearsome shot in the second half.
Mata 8 MOTM – Booked. A delight to watch at times. His touch is superb and he has vision to match. A constant danger.

Rooney 7 – Booked. Revelled in his midfield role as creator rather than predator. Passes with accuracy and imagination.
Martial 6 – Struggled to find the space to be at his most effective. When he was given the chance, he was denied by the post.
Rashford 6 – Showed flashes of the excellence that may yet see him on the plane to France for the Euros, should injury blow not be serious.

Subs
Darmian 6 (for Rojo, 64) – A logical replacement for the injured Rojo
Young 6 (for Rashford, 71) – A new problem for Palace... as a front player.
Lingard 7 (for Mata, 90) - Booked. Stepped off the bench to win it with stunning volley.
