The second leg matches of the CAF Confederation Cup’s playoff round begin today with two matches in Tunisia.

The afternoon kick off sees Stade Gabesien looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit against reigning African champions TP Mazembe, who surprisingly dropped out of the top-tier Champions League last month.

The DR Congo giants defeated Gabesien 1-0 in the first leg in Lubumbashi nine days ago, with Jonathan Bolingi scoring the only goal of the game deep into injury time.

Mazembe captain and defender Joel Kimwaki says his side must be disciplined in the return leg match if they are to come away with overall victory and advance into the group stage.

"The Gabesien team has a powerful defensive unit that is known to contain the attackers, they did well in Lubumbashi,” he told his club’s official website.

“For the match on Tuesday, they will show another side to their football. They will play with the aim to catch up on the scoreboard.

“So it will be ours to defend so well. We are ready physically and mentally. We will do everything to win. It will be a very difficult game.”

Later in the evening the spotlight moves to Rades, where Esperance de Tunis will look to overcome Algeria’s MO Bejaia. The teams played to a goalless draw in the first leg 10 days ago, leaving the tie on a knife edge.

However, the ‘Blood and Gold’ of Esperance will be confident of securing victory on home soil, having racked up eight goals without reply in their two turns as hosts earlier in the Confederation Cup.
