The Red Devils skipper netted his 100th Premier League goal at Old Trafford before Rashford and Young sealed the win in the re-arranged clash at Old Trafford

Manchester United ended their disappointing Premier League campaign on something of a high in front of a two-thirds full Old Trafford.
The result in the game postponed from Sunday because of the security alert confirmed United have missed out on a Champions League place to Manchester City on goal difference.
They have qualified automatically for the Europa League ahead of Saturday's FA Cup Final by finishing fifth, but that will be of little consolation.
This game summed up United at home this season and it was dreadful until Anthony Martial set up Rooney to score his 15th of the campaign just before half-time.
United improved in the second half and Michael Carrick hit the bar before Marcus Rashford bagged his eighth of his impressive debut campaign and Ashley Young netted at the death. A Chris Smalling own goal acted as a consolation for the Cherries.

1. Louis van Gaal is a risk taker

Van Gaal passed up the opportunity to rest anyone as he stuck with his best starting line-up again, even though the FA Cup Final is looming large on Saturday.

2. Marcus Rashford would shine at the Euros

A certain team-mate of Rashford's lit up Euro 2004 when he was 18 like he is now and the Manchester United striker continued his rapid development, bagging his eighth goal.

3. Juan Mata should be going to the Euros

Fall guy: Mata will stay at home this summer

Spain have a quality squad, but it seems crazy that coach Vicente Del Bosque cannot find room in
his party for the Manchester United playmaker and he is playing this best football since leaving Chelsea.

4. Bournemouth have magnificent fans

Respect: Plenty of Cherries fans made their way back to Old Trafford

Around 800 of them made the 500-mile round trip to support their team and they outsang the home support throughout the match.

5. Manchester United's lack of goals has cost them dear

Protest: The Van Gaal out brigade were out again

United missed out on the Champions League to Manchester City on goal difference because they only found the net 49 times - their lowest league total in 26 years.
