Jakub Blaszczykowski transfers to Wolfsburg

The player who has been with BVB for the longest spell apart from Roman Weidenfeller will take on a new sporting challenge: Jakub Blaszczykowski, who will turn 31 in December, will transfer with immediate affect to league rivals VfL Wolfsburg after nine years with Borussia Dortmund.
Sporting Director Michael Zorc emphasised: „Kuba is an extraordinary pro, who we have got to know and love not just as a footballer, but also as a person and we will also continue to follow his career. He joined BVB in 2007 during a difficult period, when we first of all had to sort out our finances and then had to make sure everything worked out on the pitch. Kuba was one of the driving forces on our way to the Cup final in 2008 and also for when we won the Championship in 2011 and 2012."
After he suffered a cruciate ligament injury in 2014, Jakub „Kuba“ Blaszczykowski fought for one year to make it back to the Bundesliga and he did not let any set-backs get in the way. The former captain of the Polish national side went out on loan to Fiorentina last season. After he recovered yet again from an injury set-back, we was part of the Polish squad for the EURO and he gave some convincing performances.
Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of the BVB board, stated: "we wish Kuba all the best for his future career. He deserved to be a real Borussia man, he is a really good person whom we will always feel close to. Kuba knows that he will always be welcome in Dortmund with his family."
