Nigeria 0-2 Germany: Brazil to face World Cup conquerers in Rio 2016 gold medal showdown

The hosts will be given the chance to gain a little bit of retribution from the World Cup semi-final as they battle each other for Olympic gold


Brazil will be reunited with their World Cup 2014 conquerers Germany in the gold medal match of the Olympics.
Germany, who famously romped to a 7-1 victory over Brazil two years ago, secured their place in Saturday's gold medal match with a 2-0 victory over Nigeria.
Lukas Kolstermann sent Germany on their way with a strike in the ninth minute.
Max Meyer's cross beat Nigeria goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel to allow the 20-year-old Red Bull Leipzig defender to tap into an open goal.

But from there, Germany were made to fight for their victory and it took until the 89th minute before they made sure of an Olympic medal.
Davie Selke whipped the ball towards the far post of the net and Freiburg striker Nils Petersen was on hand to turn the ball into the net and double the score.

Germany will now go on to face Brazil for an Olympic gold medal
Germany will now take on a Brazil team who qualified for the final with a 6-0 victory over Honduras.
Nigeria and Honduras face each other in the bronze medal match.
