Rodgers to push Sturridge to be fit
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will push Daniel Sturridge to declare himself fit for Saturday’s showdown with Arsenal.
The Reds’ trip to the Emirates could well decide their Champions League fate, and Rodgers is desperate for his England striker to play.
First reports suggested the hip injury which ruled Sturridge out of international duty this week could sideline the player for at least a month, as he returned to Merseyside for treatment.
But the Anfield medical team have assessed the slight tear Sturridge suffered in his hip flexor muscle, and they believe he should be fit enough to face the Gunners.
Sterling vows to get Liverpool into Champions League
Raheem Sterling has vowed to help Liverpool back into the Champions League as the storm over his contract rages around him.
The Anfield star, 20, has sparked controversy by shelving talks over a new deal on hold until the end of the season.
Arsenal and Manchester City are among a string of clubs monitoring the stand-off between him and his advisers. But Sterling is focused simply on helping the Reds into the top four.
He said: “We’ve been in great form in recent weeks and I am just trying to contribute as much as I can to obviously help the team get into the top four. But I think we are more than capable of doing that.”
Pedro price tag revealed

Barcelona winger Pedro, 27, is a long-term target of the Premier League duo. And Barca are now ready to cash in on the 2010 World Cup winner.
Pedro still has another 15 months in his Nou Camp contract.

Raheem Sterling is RIGHT to bide his time over a new contract at Liverpool says former England captain Ray Wilkins.
England starlet Sterling scored his first goal for his country in the 4-0 win over Lithuania on Friday evening, but it is his club future which has seen the 20-year-old making headlines of late.
Sterling has shelved talks over his future until the summer, when he will enter the final two years of his contract at Anfield.
