Hugo Lloris felt France’s five goals were just reward for their efforts from the outset against Iceland on Sunday night (July 3).

The Euro 2016 host nation breezed into the tournament’s last four with a comfortable 5-2 quarter-final victory against a gutsy outfit that had scalped England in the previous round.
Olivier Giroud, Paul Pogba, Dimitri Payet and Antoine Griezmann put Les Bleus 4-0 up by half-time, with Giroud later doubling his tally while Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Birkir Bjarnason replied for Iceland.
Goalkeeper Hugo, captain of club and country, insisted he wasn’t going to let the two goals his side conceded dampen what was a fine France performance on the night and confirmed that he was delighted with the manner of his nation’s victory.
“We have a lot of respect for the Iceland team and I think we showed that because we started the game very strongly,” he said.
“We put in a lot of energy and intensity and we were rewarded for our efforts with four goals in the first half.
“It’s true that after half-time we tried to manage our efforts and it was a perfect day, even if we conceded two goals.
“We are very pleased, first of all with the performance and of course to be in the semi-finals.”
