Former chairman of Kano Pillars Abba Yola has described as 'perfect' the Kano outfit's 3-0 victory over Al-Malakia in the second leg of the preliminary round of the 2015 Caf Champions League at the San Abacha Stadium on Saturday.
The country's reigning champions advance to the first round of the ongoing elite African club competition after a 5-0 aggregate win in two-leg encounter against the South Sudanese National Cup winners in the opening stage.
Yola, who a member of the Kano Pillars' Continental Committee said that the team overcame their failure to advance beyond the preliminary stage for the first time in three attempts due to maturity and early preparation.
He specially applauded the patience and understanding of the supporters over the two opening games in the Caf Champions League urging them to sustain the character.
"Well, at least this time around we were more prepared than before. We were taken unaware last time, now you can see that we have now grown up," Yola told media.
"We have come of age, i think today's match tells you much about a team that is now more fully prepared.
"Better outing and better job in the next game. The performance of Kano Pillars was perfect today against the South Sudan team. 
"The best thing we have actually gotten right is that the people have been more orderly. And we thank our Kano fans for behaving well under the circumstances," he concluded.

Kano Pillars Football Club is a Nigerian football club based in Kano. They play in the top division in Nigerian football, the Nigerian Premier League. Their home stadium is Sani Abacha Stadium. Kano Pillars FC was founded in 1990, the year professional league was started in Nigeria. It was an amalgamation of three amateur clubs in Kano State which gave birth to Kano Pillars FC.

History

Founded in 1990, By Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima former Chairman Nigeria Football Association and former sport commissioner of Kano, from the combination of WRECA FC, Kano Golden Stars and Bank of the North FC, Kano Pillars achieved outstanding success by winning the 2007/08 Nigerian Premier League. Kano Pillars produced players like Abiodun Baruwa who has since played for Swiss, Austrian, Welsh and British Clubs and Sani Kaita who later plays for Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Another Prominent player is Ahmed Garba 'Yaro Yaro' who later plays for Akademisk Boldklub in Denmark and the recent international player from Kano Pillars FC is Ahmed Musa who played for VVV VENLO FC in Netherlands and now playing in CSKA MOSCOW. It was registered as a limited liability company with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria, and then registered with the Nigeria Football Association(NFA) as a professional football club.

2009 Champions League

They are also nicknamed "Ahly Killers" as they scored 2 magnificent goals in Egypt and drew with Al-Ahly Cairo in Egypt 2-2 and 1-1 in Nigeria, so the Ahly killers went to the Group Stage in the African Champions League on the away goals rule. They made it to the semifinals before being eliminated against fellow Nigerian team Heartland F.C.
