Ilkay Gundogan and Kelechi Iheanacho also found the net for City as they won 4-0 for the second time in four days
Manchester City maintained their 100 per cent start to the season under Pep Guardiola and stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to five points with this emphatic win.
Guardiola's men turned on the style with some magnificent goals in their dismantling of Bournemouth, who simply had no answer to City's pace, guile and relentless pressing.
Kevin De Bruyne ran the show and opened the scoring, with further goals from Kelechi Iheanacho, Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan, making his Premier League debut for the Blues.
If City can maintain this stunning form, it will be hard for anyone to reel them in, with Guardiola's side becoming more formidable with every game under their decorated new boss.
Here are five things we learned as City strolled to a second 4-0 win in the space of four days, following Wednesday's Champions League triumph over Borussia Monchengladbach.
1. De Bruyne continues to shine
On current form, De Bruyne has to be the best player in the Premier League.
Fresh from his man-of-the-match display in City's 2-1 derby win over United, he tormented Bournemouth with his pace, vision and direct running.
He opened the scoring with a cheeky free-kick and had a hand in City's breathtakingly quick second goal on the break.
No better player in England at the moment.
2. Sterling can do no wrong
Like De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling can do no wrong right now, the England winger continuing his fine start to the campaign with a goal and an assist, as well as coming close to claiming what would have been a remarkable solo effort just after the hour.
Guardiola's man-management of Sterling has been exemplary, the player showing just why City paid Liverpool £44million for him.
3. Gundogan and Nolito grow in stature
Nolito has proved one of the bargains of the summer at £13.8m and continued to show his growing importance to City with a key role in a couple of their goals, his contribution marred by late red card for a foolish and needless attempted head-butt on Adam Smith.
Gundogan, making his Premier League debut, showed why Guardiola was prepared to buy him, even though he had to wait for him to recover from a dislocated knee, with a controlled display in midfield capped by a fine goal.
4. Future looks bleak for Kompany
On the eve of the game, Guardiola warned City skipper Kompany he wouldn't walk straight back into the team when fit.
The City boss was true to his word, playing a left-back in Alexandar Kolarov in central defence, ahead of Kompany, who only made the bench.
When a defensive change was made, it was John Stones, not Kompany, who came on for the injured Nicolas Otamendi.
5. Wilshere struggles on full debut
The on-loan Arsenal midfielder struggled on his full debut for Eddie Howe's side.
He lost possession cheaply just outside his own area and compounded that by conceding a free-kick from which De Bruyne scored.
Wilshere looked off the pace throughout and was subbed just after the hour mark, and while that was no surprise given his lack of match action, a player of his talent should ultimately be contributing more.
