Battery look to build, Lions look to rebound at Titan Soccer Complex


MELBOURNE, Fla. – Orlando City B plays host the Charleston Battery on Friday night at the Titan Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET as Orlando looks to rebound from an opening defeat, while Charleston aims for a second consecutive win to start the season.

  • Current record: 0-1-0, 0 points
  • Orlando’s return to the USL was spoiled in the club’s home opener as Wilmington Hammerheads FC took a 2-1 victory last Saturday at the Titan Soccer Complex.
  • Andrew Ribeiro scored the first goal in OCB history as his goal leveled the game against the Hammerheads, but Logan Miller’s long-range strike took all three points for the visitors.
  • Orlando City SC also lost its first game in the USL in 2011 when it fell 2-0 to the Richmond Kickers, but rebounded to claim both the regular-season title and league championship at the end of the season.
Charleston Battery news and notes
  • Current record: 1-0-0, 3 points
  • The Battery grabbed a dramatic victory in their home opener last Saturday as Romario Williams scored late in stoppage-time to earn a 1-0 win against FC Cincinnati.
  • Williams is on loan from the Montreal Impact, and came on as a second-half substitute in his debut for Charleston.
  • The Battery will have both Trinidad & Tobago’s Neveal Hackshaw and Antigua & Barbuda’s Quinton Griffith back for selection after both missed Saturday’s game while representing their countries.
  • Charleston announced on Thursday the addition of four Academy signings, with Forwards Robbie Robertson and Conor Sloan, midfielder Alex Henderson, and defender-midfielder Cole Gulledge joining the squad.
