Centre-back Alex appears to have decided to call time on his career in Europe and opted for a return to former club Santos on a free transfer

AC Milan‘s out-of-contract defender Alex could end his career at first club Santos, according to the Brazilian giants.
The powerful defender is currently visiting the Centro Sportivo “Rei Pele” in Santos for some physiotherapy treatment and Milan are not expected to offer the former Chelsea defender an extension to his current deal.

The Sao Paulo State champions have refused to rule out a return for the defender, who made his professional debut with the club in in 2002. President Modesto Roma Junior admitted that talks would begin to bring the 34-year-old back to the club.
“We have not talked, but we will do it because he will be here with us for a few days,” Roma told Lance.
Alex has enjoyed a decorated career across Europe since leaving Santos for Dutch champions PSV in 2004.
Before moving to Milan in 2014, the central defender had won league titles with PSV, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. He has also been capped 17 times for Brazil.
The Niteroi native has made 43 appearances and scored 4 goals for Milan, but his time with the Rossoneri looks to be coming to an end.
