Sadiku's 43rd minute header sparked incredible scenes among the Albania players and fans as they wildly celebrated their country's first-ever goal at a major tournament
Armando Sadiku scored the goal of a lifetime as Albania sensationally dumpedRomania out of Euro 2016 and gave themselves an outside chance of reaching last 16 of the competition.
Sadiku's 43rd minute header sparked incredible scenes among the Albania players and supporters as they wildly celebrated their country's first-ever goal - and crucially, win - at a major tournament.
The landmark strike was enough to settle a lively match in Lyon and secure Albania's first win over Romania in 68 years.
Romania fought back in the second half, and substitute Florin Andone rattled the Albanian bar with 15 minutes left, but otherwise their efforts were blocked time and again by determined Albanian defending.
The result leaves Albania third and Romania fourth, with just one point, in a group topped by France and Switzerland.
The Albanians will have to wait for the results of the other groups to see whether they go through as one of the four best third-placed teams.
They must now wait until the final round of group games have been determined to discover whether they will reach the knockout phase of the competition - where England could be a potential opponent, if they win Group B.
But Sadiku's strike left them feeling like they'd had won the tournament regardless.
