Ajax ease through as Legia's final dream ends

Legia Warszawa 0-3 AFC Ajax (agg: 0-4)
Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik once again proved the scourge of his compatriots as he struck two first-half goals to seal Ajax progress.

• Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik scores twice on his return to his homeland
• The 20-year-old struck the winner in Amsterdam seven days ago
• Legia's hopes of a home final end on the day tickets go on sale
• The Polish champions have gone six matches without a win

Poland striker Arkadiusz Milik once again proved the scourge of Legia Warszawa as he added two more goals to his first-leg winner as AFC Ajax eased through to the last 16.
Legia's aspirations of appearing in May's UEFA Europa League final in their home city rested on them arresting a recent slump, but Milik gave the visitors a perfect start on 11 minutes. Any faint hope vanished soon after as Nick Viergever doubled the lead, and Milik's second of the game before half-time made it a comfortable evening.
Legia had begun brightly, Tomasz Jodłowiec's powerful effort giving Jasper Cillessen something to think about, but the dark clouds reappeared after two Ajax strikes in three minutes. The first came on the counter as Milik outstripped the home defenders and fired in. Dušan Kuciak could do nothing about that but was at fault for the second as he failed to clear a Ricardo Kishna free-kick and Viergever headed in.
Ajax almost let Legia back into the contest, perhaps guilty of complacency as Ricardo van Rhijn chested back to Cillessen, who missed the ball and was grateful to the alert defender sprinting back to clear off his line. Milik promptly made it 4-0 on aggregate and the second half of a match played behind closed doors unfolded with little urgency.
Legia, with Poland coach Adam Nawałka watching on, sought consolation, but Michał Kucharczyk failed to capitalise on a Cillessen error before the keeper made amends with a fine stop from Jodłowiec. Milik was the star of the show, though, and has now struck four goals in his last three games.
