Three cheers for Friday night football!

Chelsea and Liverpool served up a cracker this evening as the Reds took all three points from west London with a 2-1 victory.

Dejan Lovren's opener was added to by a goal of the season contender from Jordan Henderson, whose dipping 25-yard drive was unstoppable for Thibaut Courtois.

Diego Costa pulled one back for the Blues after the break but Jurgen Klopp's side hung on to end their hosts' unbeaten start to the campaign.

Chelsea

Courtois 6 - Helpless on goals but nearly let Sturridge shot go through him.

Ivanovic 4 - Exposed once again. It is clear the Chelsea defender is coming to the end.

Cahill 5 - His clearance fell straight to Henderson. Not his best night by any means.

Luiz 5 - Showed why Chelsea sold him in the first place. So poor defensively.

Luiz was unconvincing... and in the wars

Azpilicueta 6 - Was poor. Not great defensively and offered little going forward.

Kante 6 - Put in a good shift in midfield but he can’t do it all by himself.

Matic 5 - Was very poor until his run and pull back set up Costa. Needs confidence.

Willian 6 - Booked. Tried hard but it did not really happen for him. Frustrating.

Oscar 5 - Limp performances like this suggest Chelsea should bring back Fabregas.

Oscar battles with Coutinho

Hazard 6 - Shows willing but if there is no-one to aim at… Better effort than most.

Costa 5 - Got very little service but scored when he finally had a chance.

Subs - Fabregas, Aina, Begovic, Moses, Pedro, Alonso, Batshuayi.

Liverpool

Mignolet 6 - Poor distribution. Does not look convincing under pressure.

Clyne 7 - Excellent forward runs, looked to overlap and was a real threat.

Matip 7 - A towering, powerhouse of a centre half. Excellent in defence for Liverpool.

Lovren 7 - Terrific finish for a centre half for Liverpool’s opener. Decent game.

Milner 7 - What a great pro. Solid as a makeshift left back, linked up well going forward.

Lallana 8 - Has improved so much under Klopp. Buzzes around everywhere. Excellent.

Henderson 9 - MotM. His wonder goal nicked it amid several outstanding Liverpool displays.

Wijnaldum 7 - Steady and showed lots of energy without setting the game alight. Disciplined.

Mane 7 - His pace, power and movement causes all sorts of problems. A live wire.

Coutinho 8 - Sublime cross for Liverpool’s opener. A beautiful, top class player.
