Arsene Wenger is told to launch his biggest ever Arsenal spending spree - or miss out on new Arsenal contract

Gunners' chiefs want big names like Toni Kroos, Gonzalo Higuain, Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and John Stones

ARSENE WENGER is being ordered to go on the biggest spending spree of his career.

And Arsenal will not consider giving him a new deal until he starts competing in the transfer market.
Gunners chiefs want him to splash out on names like Toni KroosGonzalo HiguainPaul PogbaZlatan Ibrahimovic and John Stones this summer.
Wenger has consistently refused to spend big despite the Gunners’ cash reserves of £159million — more than any other club in the world.
Emirates chiefs are increasingly frustrated by the manager’s stubbornness and have demanded he reinvigorates his underperforming squad.
That could put them on a collision course with the Frenchman, who refuses to be dictated to by anyone over new signings.
Ozil, meanwhile, was reported in Spain to have asked his agent to plot a return to Real Madrid if Wenger stays at Arsenal beyond this summer.
But no one at the club believes he will be sacked by owner Stan Kroenke, despite the likelihood of finishing the season trophyless.

Leicester fan with terminal cancer says miracle Premier League title bid is keeping him alive

Lifelong supporter was given just FOUR WEEKS to live last March... and now dreams of seeing Foxes crowned champions

A LEICESTER fan with terminal cancer has claimed the Foxes’ miracle title bid is keeping him alive.
Aussie Tony Skeffington was given just four weeks to live after being diagnosed with the disease in March last year.
At that time, Leicester were scrapping against relegation from the Premier League.

But now Claudio Ranieri’s side — priced at 5,000/1 in August — are incredibly on course to be crowned champions.
And brave Tony is defying even greater odds — in the hope that he can see his boyhood side lift the Prem trophy in May.
Tony, 51, revealed: “Watching Leicester come back from their relegation fight last season and seeing how well they’re doing this season is helping me fight this.
“When I was given four weeks to live last year they picked themselves up — and I picked myself up.
“Having something positive to concentrate on makes you feel good. I’m still confident I will see the season out.
His wife Donna added: “Leicester City is keeping him alive.”
Tony had hoped to be able to fly to the UK to see his heroes play one last before he passes away.
But as the disease has taken its toll on his body, the Adelaide-based fan was forced to abandon his plans.

Tony Skeffington, 51, who was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia, was given four weeks to live in March last year after being diagnosed with cancer. But like the team he has followed all his life he defied the odds and is still battling on and hopes to see the club win the Premier League title. This week he was given a major boost when the club sent him an LCFC pennant signed by first team players, complete with a photograph of his favourite player, Andy King, holding it.

However, in a remarkable gesture, the high-flying Foxes sent him a club pennant, signed by first-team stars – complete with a photo of Tony’s favourite player, Andy King, holding it.

Speaking from his hospital bed to the Leicester Mercury, Tony added: “I’m not in good shape at the moment, but it gave me a lift when the picture of Andy King holding my signed pennant arrived by e-mail.
“I took a real liking to him when we were in League 1.
“He works hard, is a real team player, has scored some great goals, has been loyal, is currently our longest serving player and number 10 is my favourite number.
“I’m really chuffed and I’m going to get it framed up.”

Club ambassador Alan Birchenall said: “When Andy and the lads heard about Tony they agreed to send him this as a one-off because of his situation.
“We wish him all the best and we’re glad to hear that the team’s results have given him a lift. The pennant is winging its way to Australia.”
Incredibly, Tony also placed a 20 Australian dollar bet on Leicester to win the title, at 3,000/1, at the start of the season.
And — like a number of British punters who have pocketed mega sums of money for similar wagers — other half Donna has cashed out for a massive 35,000 dollars.

But Tony insists seeing his team complete the job would mean far more than his sudden windfall.
He said: “I am more concerned about the team winning than the money.
“It’s a hell of a lot of money, but it’s only that amount because Donna pressed the wrong button – it was meant to be a 2 dollar bet.
“My situation is grim now. If the latest chemo they are going to try doesn’t work, I may only have a matter of weeks.
“But I am remaining as positive as I can and I am hoping to stay around long enough to see Leicester win the title.”
