Jurgen Klinsmann names 25-man USMNT roster

Some familiar faces and some new names are included in Jurgen Klinsmann’s USMNT roster.
Klinsmann selected 25 players for the United States final two games of 2014, November 14th against Colombia in London and November 18th against Ireland in Dublin.
One notable omission was captain Clint Dempsey, who is still battling in the MLS Playoffs with the Seattle Sounders. Had Dempsey been named to the team, he could have played on his old pitch at Craven Cottage, where he made over 200 appearances for Fulham.

DeAndre YedlinJermaine Jones and Lee Nguyen were all called-up by Klinsmann despite still being active in the playoffs for Major League Soccer. It will be interesting to see if Klinsmann chooses to rest these players, which their MLS clubs are surely hoping for.
Jordan Morris received another call-up after being named to the side that faced the Czech Republic earlier in September. The Stanford University standout became the first active collegiate player to be called-up by Klinsmann, and could become the first collegiate player to earn a cap for the USMNT since 1995 should he feature overseas.
18-year-old Rubio Rubin is included once again after enjoying some quality minutes for FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Although both friendlies, Jurgen Klinsmann knows that results in these games are important for the team moving forward. With 16 players from the World Cup roster along with a crop of new young talent, the manager hopes his mixture of youth and experience will benefit his side.
"We want to finish 2014 on a high note and continue to try to meet the top teams eye to eye. In these last two games we want our veterans to really become mentors both on and off the field, and we want to see our youngsters take advantage of the opportunity to make their case and grow from the experience. These performances will set the tone for 2015.”
