Ramadan Sobhy apologises for showboating

Al Ahly youngster  apologised to  players for showboating during the Egyptian Super Cup final, asserting that humiliation wasn’t his intention.
The 18-year-old stood on the ball during his side’s 3-2 win over Zamalek, which provoked Zamalek players, leading them to start a fight with their Al Ahly counterparts.
“I didn’t mean to humiliate Zamalek players, they are all my friends, and I had no intention to insult any of them,” Sobhy told Al Ahly television channel.
Sobhy, who plays along several Zamalek players in the Olympic and national team, explained that Zamalek could have equalized in the remaining minutes, and that if he wanted to insult them, he would have done it at the end of the game when his side would have secured the victory.
“Since it was seen as a humiliation, I apologise for Zamalek players, but if I meant to humiliate, I wouldn’t have done it in the 77th minute; long time before the game ends,” Sobhy added.
Sobhy, who was involved in a similar incident in Al Ahly’s 2-0 win over Zamalek in the , asserted that he have repeated it a second time.

Ahly's ball-standing man apologizes for Zamalek's angered players

Ramadan Sobhi promises not to stand on the ball again as he intends to not anger players

Ahly's youngster Ramadan Sobhi has apologised to Zamalek players and fans for showboating during the 3-2 win over the Whites in the Egyptian Super Cup last week.
The 18-year-old stood on the ball, repeating a scene that he made during his side’s 2-0 win over Zamalek in a league game, in an attempted feint that was deemed provocative by Zamalek players during the Super Cup game.
The move prompted Zamalek's players to react and the game was suspended for around 10 minutes due to clashes that occurred on the pitch between the two teams.
"I apologise to the Zamalek players as they are all my friends and I didn't intend to insult them," Sobhi told Ahly television channel on Saturday.
"If I intended to insult Zamalek players by this move (standing on the ball) I wouldn't do it in the 77th minute as we didn't secure the result.
"I stood on the ball spontaneously and I didn't mean to insult them.
"I promise not to do it again for a third time."
Ahly's interim coach Abdel-Aziz Abdel-Shafi ‘Zizo’, who took charge of the Zamalek game, confirmed Sobhi will be reprimanded for his behavior.
"Sobhi will be fined for his behavior during the game," the Ahly coach said in the post-match news conference.
It's the second time for Sobhi to apologize for the same behavior as he excused for the move in a scene that he made during his sides 2-0 win over Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League.
The club has not determined the player's sanction.

Pirates Players Wanted Zamalek In Final

Thabo Matlaba Has Indicated his Team-Mates Hoped To Face Zamalek In The Final

Orlando Pirates defender, Thabo Matlaba, has indicated that his team mates were hoping to meet Zamalek in the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Buccaneers overcame Al Ahly in their two-legged semi-final of the continental competition, emerging 5-3 winners on aggregate. In the other semi-final, Zamalek were eliminated by Etoile du Sahel 5-4 on aggregate, and Bucs will now face the Tunisians in the final.
Matlaba has indicated that his side would like to have met Zamalek in the final of the competition after the Egyptians beat them twice in the group stages of the competition, 2-1 and 4-1 respectively.
“It was a really good feeling (beating Al Ahly in the second-leg) because, like you said, not many teams can say they have done what we did in Egypt,” Matlaba told Soccer Laduma.
“Honestly, from the beginning of the Confederation Cup we always wanted to meet Al Ahly, so when the opportunity presented itself we couldn’t waste it.
“I’m glad we beat them in both the first and second-leg. We were hoping to meet Zamalek in the final, but it wasn’t to be.”
