Forget Manchester United.. Pep Guardiola Wants to Manage Brazil at World Cup?

Are we the only ones totally surprised by talk that Pep Guardiola wants to lead Brazil at the 2022 World Cup?
The Spanish boss has been the subject of intense speculation over the last two days after German newspaper Bild reported that he’s set to leave Bayern Munich this summer.
As far as where he goes next, England appears the most legitimate option, with many believing Manchester United, City or Chelsea as the teams in line to get him.
Spanish football writer Graham Hunter is well versed on Guardiola from his time at Barcelona and has his view on where he’ll go after Bayern – and that’s Old Trafford.
But we were even more interested to hear that, according to Hunter, the former Spain international wants to lead Brazil – currently coached by Dunga – to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Dani Alves spoke earlier this year about Guardiola being turned down for the job as national team boss in his homeland because local officials felt having a foreign coach wouldn’t go down well with fans.
But apparently Guardiola still holds hope of being in charge of Selecao – and that could be one of the most exciting partnerships ever.
Hunter spoke on BBC 5 Live with Mark Chapman yesterday and, after giving his view on Pep to United, he mentioned the Brazil link at the end.
He said: “In his grand plan, not something I’m claiming he’ll be broken hearted with if it doesn’t come off, his projects included working for two, three, four years with Manchester United, taking Brazil to the World Cup in Qatar and, after that, re-assessing where he wanted to be, what he wanted to do.
“But these were the next two stages of his ideal career.”
Imagine that? The man who built arguably the greatest ever attacking football team leading the most iconic football country the game has ever seen. That’s a combination we’d like to see.
You can hear everything Hunter had to say on Guardiola above.

British journalist reports that Guardiola wants to manage Brazil in 2022

British journalist Graham Hunter reports that current Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola wants to manage Brazil at the 2022 World Cup. Hunter, a Scottish journalist living in Barcelona, alleges that coaching the Seleção at Qatar 2022 features in his medium term ambitions, along with managing Manchester United.

Rumours are gathering that Guardiola is set to leave his post at Bayern very soon, with reports suggesting that he will not renew his contract, which expires in June 2016. Guardiola was briefly linked with the Brazil job when Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked after the 2014 World Cup. But the rumour mill has it that the CBF did not want to appoint a foreign coach.

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves repeated this claim in a press conference earlier this year. Hunter told the BBC, “If things go the way he wants, his desire is to experience life at Manchester United for a variety of reasons. After that, in his great plan, is something will hurt if it does not happen.

“His project includes working two or three years at Manchester United, and then to take Brazil to the World Cup in Qatar. These are the next stages of his ideal career.” Current Brazil boss Dunga is said to be under pressure, with Corinthians boss Tite lurking in the wings and ready to take over.
