Germany vs Italy Kick-Off Time 29-March-2016

Germany national football team prepare for another tough test as they host Italy at Allianz-Arena in Munich.
Germany squandered a 2 goal lead and an Eric Dier injury time goal inflicted a 3-2 loss against England on Saturday night and they face another stern test from Antonio Conte managed Italy. The Azzurri were the dominant side in the 1-1 draw against Spain and must consider themselves unlucky not to have won it on the Thursday night.

Form Comparison

  • Germany have succumbed to their third defeat in their last 4 matches. Their only win meantime was against a weak Georgia, while they lost to Ireland, France and England.
  • Die Mannschaft are on a 2 match win-less streak and conceded 5 goals in their last two matches.
  • Germany’s last 5 home matches read 2 wins, 2 loss and a draw.
  • Italy have drawn their last two matches and failed to win in their last three.
  • Four out of Azzuri’s last five matches have witnessed over 2.5 goals.
  • Italy’s away record in the last 4 matches read 1 win, 1 defeat and 2 draws.

Germany Team News

German head-coach Joachim Low is unlikely to make changes to the starting line-up he fielder against England and the likes of Reus, Ozil and Kroos are all set to start.
Manuel Neuer has been withdrawn from the squad through illness and Barcelona keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen could replace him, while Kevin Trapp and Bernd Leno are also in  the squad.
Liverpool’s defensive midfielder Emre Can played the full minutes as a make-shift right back against in the last match and he could be replaced by Matthias Ginter. While Shkodran Mustafi could come in for Rudiger.
Experienced striker Mario Gomez, who scored their second goal against England could retain his place in the line-up with Gotze once again starting off from the bench.
Germany Expected Starting Line-up (4-2-3-1)
ter Stegen – Ginter, Mustafi, Hummels, Hector – Khedira, Kroos – Muller, Ozil, Reus – Gomez.

Italy: Team News

Antonio Conte started with a 3-4-3 formation in their last match against Spain, but he is very likely to revert back to a 4-3-3 formation to cope with the threat of Ozil, Reus and Muller.
Andrea Barzagli and Georgio Chiellini are injured, while Conte has decided not to call experienced players Daniele De Rossi, Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio for the friendlies.
Italy: Expected starting line-up (4-3-3)
Buffon – Darmian, Astori, Bonucci, Antonelli – Motta, Verratti, Candreva – Insigne, Pelle, Zaza.
Germany vs Italy: Head-to-Head Stats
  • Italy are unbeaten in the last 7 matches against Germany, with 3 wins and 4 draws.
  • Three of their last four meetings have ended in draw and those games have witnessed under 2.5 goals.
  • Their last meeting was a friendly in 2013 at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan; which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Germany vs Italy: Prediction

Italy have a strong head-to-head record against the Germans in their recent meetings and looked good in their last friendly against Spain. Germany look like a shadow of the team that won the World Cup Championship in Brazil two years ago and the rate at which they concede goals will be a worry for Joachim Low. But they have enough fire-power upfront.
This could be an exciting match with both teams going out to win to boost their morale ahead of Euro Cup finals in France. Three of their last four meetings ended in draw and there will be another scored draw here.
I expect both teams to score and my score prediction is 1-1.
