Nkata: I am happy with Muhoroni Youth players

Coach Paul Nkata happy with the players devotion as he looks forward to build from this season’s sixth place finish in Sportpesa Premier League

Muhoroni Youth coach Paul Nkata has lauded his players' mentality after turning the season around and finishing amongst the top six.
The sugarcane farmers started the season on a low note and found themselves sucked into relegation zone by the end of the first leg. However, the appointment of the former Nairobi City Stars tactician’s in mid-season, saw the team record a fourteen match unbeaten run which eventually ended on Sunday when they were defeated 2-0 by champions Gor Mahia.
The team has however, finished one place higher than last season, “I am happy the way players devoted themselves despite a bad start into the season, we did not play well and had to fight from the position we were in," Nkata told Goal on Monday.
“This achievement has been made possible by the playing unit and I am delighted. It is a base for next season and I hope we will start in the best possible fashion to avoid what happened this season. The management has been supportive and they gave us what we needed to be where we are. We have proven we can play against big teams and get results which is a good thing to us.”

Tusker forward Jesse Were made history on Sunday by emerging top scorer in the local after scoring more than 20 goals. The last player to score more than 20 goals in the Kenyan Premier League was Boniface Ambani in 2005 when he netted 26 goals. For those, who have watches the player through-out the season, his feat is not a surprise and indeed he should have score even more goals. His latest achievement was a brace against AFC Leopards on Sunday in a match he looked determined to make history on the pitch. It is unfortunate that due to indiscipline, he has forfeited his place in the national team for now.

Congratulations to Jesse Were Goal.com's 59th Kenya Player of the Week winner!

Honourable Mention
Michael Olunga -  Gor Mahia
Olunga tried to outdo Jesse Were in the battle for the Golden Boot and almost did it but he will have to be content with second position in this race after netting 19 times with his latest goal being against Muhoroni Youth in a 2-0 win for his side. The youngster has been awesome through-out the season and he one of the reasons Gor Mahia finished the season unbeaten by collecting an impressive 78 points. He will certainly be on the rooster for the best players in 2015. However, with his contract having run out, Gor Mahia will need a lot of convincing to keep him at the cub next season.
Noah Abich - Mathare United
Looking back Mathare United will be disappointed by how they have performed this season. By all accounts they should have done better. At the same time however, it could have been worse were it not for players like Noah Abich. The former AFC Leopards defender has been instrumental in all United's matches and helped them pick a 1-1 draw against Chemelil Sugar on Sunday. Abich has been able to revive his career since joining Mathare United last season. During his time at Mathare United has become a free-kick and penalty specialist from which he has hardly missed. He will look back with pride at his season and knows he can do even better in 2016.
Ebrima Sanneh - City Stars
The Gambian together with Ugandan Jimmy Bagaye have been responsible for City Stars survival this season. On Sunday Sanneh scored a late goal to enable his side pick a point against Sony Sugar and with that managed to keep their place in top flight football next season. Sony Sugar were leading for a good part of the match and looked set to send City Stars to the relegation zone. Overall, Sanneh has been very impressive for the Kawangware side and this is shown by his 11 goals of the season.

Each week our team of writers will put forward a selected candidate, as chosen by Goal.com Kenya, who deserves recognition for achieving something special that matchday.
You can also help us choose a worthy recipient of the weekly accolade by leaving your nominations and comments. Your suggestions will be taken into consideration.
It won't necessarily be the best player in the country - at least not usually - but whoever we crown will have accomplished something amazing. It might be for a particularly awesome performance or for something praiseworthy off the pitch - either way, the person in question deserves special attention...
