1. CREW SC HANG ON THROUGH FINAL BOUNCE
The New York Red Bulls secured a 1-0 home win over Columbus Crew SC late Sunday night (HIGHLIGHTS), but they fell one goal short as Columbus took a 2-1 aggregate-goal victory to advance to their second MLS Cup final. It was another frustrating finish for the Red Bulls, who hit the post on a shot which could have taken the match to extra time, but the outstanding season indicates there is plenty more to come from the team. Some of the Crew SC players, meanwhile, have revealed their inspiration for success.
2. TIMBERS SEE IT OUT
The Portland Timbers are also heading to the MLS Cup final after an entertaining 2-2 draw with FC Dallas (HIGHLIGHTS) handed them a 5-3 win on aggregate as Nat Borchers once again played the hero for Portland. While their season may be over, Dallas were pleased with the way they performed, including Walker Zimmerman.
3. FINAL SET FOR OHIO
Now that the results are in, the details are set for next Sunday’s MLS Cup final, with Columbus Crew SC set to host the Portland Timbers at MAPFRE Stadium at 4 pm ET (ESPN, WatchESPN, UniMás in US, TSN, RDS in Canada). Crew SC feel their fans more than deserve to host the final, while the visiting Portland Timbers have turned their attention to winning the trophy.
