The elegant attacker, who has been one of the top performers in the I-League for the last two years, will now travel to Siliguri.
Sony Norde's consistent performances for I-League club Mohun Bagan earned him rewards once again as the Boca Juniors youth product made an appearance for the Haiti side in the World Cup Qualifiers on Wednesday.,
The former Mumbai City FC player came on as a 78-th minute substitute replacing Wisla Krakow midfielder Wilde Donald Guerrier. His contribution in the match was rather limited and he picked up a booking in the dying hours of the match. Haiti went down 1-0 against Panama in the fixture.
Norde will now leave for Siliguri, where the Mariners will be locking horns with arch-rivals East Bengal on Saturday. The club officials have made special arrangements to have their most impactful player available for the derby and Sony is expected to reach Siliguri on Friday morning after spending one night in New Delhi.
On Tuesday, Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen had downplayed the importance of Norde, but the former Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi player remains a central part of the club's planning for the big game.
