The Blues revealed the Spanish boss will take charge when Manuel Pellegrini’s contract runs out at the end of the season, in a move which was announced earlier than expected.
And ex-Premier League boss Redknapp believes the former Barcelona boss will lead the club to new heights, including possible Champions League glory and the signing of even more world class players.
“Pep Guardiola will know how to get the balance right there,” he told Drivetime. “You would certainly imagine he’ll bring in one or two big players in.
“Could we see Lionel Messi come to the Premier League, obviously he had a great relationship with him when he managed him at Barcelona.
“You wouldn’t put anything past Manchester City. They’ve got the resources to do whatever they want, almost.
“You look at the training facilities there now. It’s incredible the setup there now and just how far they’ve gone with it all.
“The sky is the limit for them. They’ve gone for the top manager and now what they need is a Champions League win somewhere in the next couple of years.
“I’ve got a feeling they will be up there challenging for that on a regular basis. They have a really great chance of winning it in the next two or three years.”
