Everton striker Romelu Lukaku was also on the scoresheet but couldn't stop the world's top-ranked side, depleted by injury, slipping to defeat
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was on target ahead of Saturday's La Liga clash against Barcelona as he helped Portugal to a 2-1 win over Belgium in Leiria.
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku was also on the scoresheet but couldn't stop the world's top-ranked side, depleted by injury, slipping to defeat.
It was Ronaldo's former Manchester United teammate Nani that opened the scoring after 20 minutes in the rearranged fixture.
The Los Blancos forward then doubled his country's advantage, heading home from close range five minutes before the break.
Lukaku, who hinted he could move from Everton after suggesting he wants Champions League football while away with Belgium, pulled one back 17 minutes into the second half.
The match had been due to take place in Brussels, but was switched after terror attacks in the city claimed the lives of 35 people.
After the game, Portugal coach Fernando Santos said the fixture eventually going ahead proved that football is 'not afraid'.
"It's very important the match is being held, and to organise it in Portugal is a very good solution," said Santos.
"I don't get the impression that during the match the players are going to think about the tragedy and that they won't be able to get away from it during the game.
"The important thing is the signal this match gives, the signal is that football is not afraid, the people are not afraid."
