TEAM NEWS

Southampton striker Graziano Pelle could return to the starting line-up after having an injection to treat an ongoing knee problem.
Maarten Stekelenburg's toe injury means Paulo Gazzaniga will continue in goal.
Tottenham could make a late decision on the fitness of Mousa Dembele, who has returned to training after illness.
Clinton Njie is out with a knee problem, while Ryan Mason and Alex Pritchard both remain unavailable due to ankle injuries.

MOTD COMMENTATOR'S NOTES

John Motson: "The focus on this game will inevitably be on Mauricio Pochettino, who led Southampton to eighth in his one full season in charge and guided Tottenham to fifth last term.
"The Argentine has had a profound influence at both clubs, constructing young sides who play attractive, attacking football.
"And he has also played a key role in developing English talent - of England's last 17 debutants, 10 were being coached by Pochettino at the time they won their first cap.
"Saints are winless in five league and cup games, while Tottenham are smarting from an unexpected defeat at home to Newcastle. Both sides will be eager to regain momentum before the hectic period of fixtures over Christmas."

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman: "I'm always positive, I think we will get good results in the next couple of weeks, but if we don't get wins in the next couple of weeks then we're close to teams who are struggling against relegation.
"I think to win the title (this season) you don't need that number of points what normally you need, and maybe that's the same in the bottom of the league, relegation [threatens] more teams because we are so close to each other in the table."
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino on facing his former club: "It is not easy to explain why we split, but I feel very good things from Southampton.
"I have a lot of people that love me and people I love there. It will always be an important club in my career."

LAWRO'S PREDICTION

This is not the first time Southampton have gone through a spell where they do not look like scoring. Tottenham have been in much better form but their long unbeaten run was ended by Newcastle last week and it will not be easy for them to bounce back from that straight away.
