Ingwe moved to the top of Kenyan Premier League table after seeing off struggling Batoto ba Mungu at Nyayo on Saturday
AFC Leopards roared back to the summit of Kenyan Premier League after seeing off Sofapakaat Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.
Sofapaka scored perhaps the earliest goal of the season when Brian Nyakan took advantage of a napping AFC Leopard's backline to beat Lucas Indeche with a low shot.
The goal shocked AFC Leopards as their opponents piled the pressure in search for a second. Fredrick Kintile received the first booking of the match for rough play on Kepha Aswani.
Aswani was giving Sofapaka defenders plenty of problems upfront as he fought to get an equalizer. In the tenth minute, he headed home the equalizer and the game was now open. Inspired by the goal, Leopards kept up the pressure with an attack minded game.
Clifton Miheso was shown a yellow card with Sofapaka making first substitution as stand-in coach John Baraza rested Patrick Mugendi for Jackson Okech. After that, AFC Leopards were clearly the better side and enjoyed possession. Victor Omune had his shot dealt with by Barnabas Tiema in Sofapaka goal.
Then AFC Leopards got a corner-kick which Andrew Tololwa took but it was quickly cleared from the danger zone. Aswani kept up the pressure on Sofapaka and was caught off-side at the half hour mark as he headed to score the second but it was not to be as both teams went on the recent still tied.
AFC Leopards, who were under pressure coming into this match after last weekend's defeat to Nairobi City Stars, were the more urgent side as the second half kicked-off.
Urged on by their fans, AFC Leopards kept up the pressure and were rewarded in the 70th minute when Simon Abuko scored the second goal. The goal came after Cliffton Miheso had picked out Tololwa only for the latter to put it out with Tiema in goal beaten,
AFC Leopards kept up the pressure to the end and rested Kepha Aswani for Kevin Muginde as they looked for a third goal but it was not to be.
