The main talking point of this weekend’s La Liga was the El Classico, Zidane must be feeling like a god now, winning his first El Classico at Camp Nou. Ten men Real Madri beat Barcelona at Nou Camp to give Zidane a boost in his career, Rayo Vallecano beat Getafe to keep them above the drop zone.
In Madrid, Atletico Ran riot on Real Betis 5:1. Las Palmas beat Valencia while Celta Vigo beat Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday. Athletic and Granada shared the spoil likewise Malaga and Espanyol. Eibar lost at home 1:2 to Villareal, Sevilla also lost at home to Real Sociedad.
Atletico Madrid players dominated the La Liga best eleven for this week as they were the best performed team this weekend. Let’s see who made into our Spanish La Liga team of the week.

Goalkeeper

Gerónimo Rulli (Real Sociedad)

The 23-year old Argentine shot stopper was in fine form for Sociedad in the 2-1 win against Sevilla. He made a total of 5 saves and came off his line to claim some crucial balls as the La Real were defending their lead with 10 men in the final 20 minutes of the match.

Defenders

Felipe Luis (Atletico Madrid)

The former Chelsea man was not only good at back was eager to join the attack whenever necessary. He guarded his lines well and made 5 successful tackles and 5 clearances to keep Real Betis at bay in Atletico’s 5-1 win at Vicente Calderón on Saturday.

Gerard Pique (Barcelona)

Real Madrid could have scored 3 official goals after one was disallowed. But Pique made sure it did not go past 2 as he made a crucial last man tackle in the 90th minute to prevent Madrid from scoring. He also scored his side’s only goal.

Quini (Rayo Vallecano)

Quini never left any stone unturned as his side kept the only clean-sheet of the weekend in their 2:0 win against Getafe, he made lots of successful tackles.

Midfielders

Koke (Atletico Madrid)

Koke was good in the midfield, always ready to attack the opponents, he played in Torres and also was unlucky as he hit the woodwork.

Casemiro (Real Madrid)

Arguably the best player on the field alongside Ronaldo and Bale and a key factor in cutting the majority of supply to Barcelona’s attacking third. He made 8 tackles in total and made 3 key interceptions. Rafa Benitez, who was watching the match would be kicking himself for not fielding him in the midfield in the first leg of the Classico at Bernebeu.

Borges (Deportivo La Coruna)

Borges played fantastic in the game winning several tackles and aerial dwells he also got a goal to his name. Without a doubt, he is the pick of the midfielders in matchday 31.

Pablo Hernández (Rayo Vallecano)

Hernandez made most of the tackles (7) in the game which earned him a spot in the team of the week, he also provided an assist for the second goal.

Forwards

Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)

Griezmann made the game a hell for the opposition defenders, he had 9 shots and scored 2 goals he also made an assist in the game.

Adalberto Peñaranda (Granada)

The 18-year old Venezuelan scored in the 77th minute against Bilbao to earn his team a priceless point at the San Mames. This will be a vital goal in Granada’s battle to stay alive in La Liga this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

Ronaldo scored the winner after Bale’s goal was disallowed he could have scored 2 but he was unlucky as he hit the woodwork earlier.
