England and Portugal will battle out against each other in an international friendly game for the preparations for the Euro 2016 competition in France this month.
England are currently on an excellent form, they are on a five game winning streak since November 2015, they beat France 2-0 at home, they also beat Germany 3-2. Their last 3 games against Netherlands, Turkey and Australia all ended in a 2-1 win for the three Lions. England have a bit stable scoring form, they have scored at least 2 goals in their last 5 games. But they are a bit shaky in defence as they failed to keep a clean sheet in 4 of their last 5 games.
Portugal are on a mixed form since after the qualification of the competition, but their last 2 games against Belgium and Norway seem to have lifted their spirit. Portugal have won 3 of their last 5 games losing to Russia and Bulgaria in 1-0 defeats. A ‘Ronaldo-less Portugal’ beat Norway 3-0 in their last game on Sunday to keep them riding on a winning motion.
England: Predicted Line-up (4-4-2)
Hart – Rose, Cahil, Smallings, Walker – Barkley, Henderson, Sterling, Milner – Rooney, Kane.
Portugal: Predicted Line-up (4-3-3)
Patricio – Alvez, Pepe, Fonte Gurriero – Sanches, Moutinho, Gomez – Ronaldo, Queresma, Nani
England vs Portugal: Head To Head
Games between these 2 teams are always an entertaining one. The 2 teams have played 22 times with England winning 9 times and Portugal winning 5 times, the remaining 8 games have ended in draws
The last four games between England and Portugal finished in stalemates.
England vs Portugal: Prediction
Portugal are the huge favourites in this game, irrespective of England’s recent good form. With the influence of Ronaldo upfront and Pepe at the centre back, Portugal will be more Lethal than they were in the last win against Norway as the two men were unavailable then.
I expect a tough game from the 2 teams involved but I’m on Portugal’s side. And check the startling line-up before placing your bet, because I also expect a goal for CR7 if he starts.
