Black Aces first to return to work

Mpumalanga Black Aces are the first team back in pre-season after the players returned to work on Monday.
The players had a little under a month off following their exploits last season and will now work towards the start of the new campaign in early August.
The players will be put through their paces by new assistant coach Patrick Mabedi, who is filling in for head coach Muhsin Ertugral who remains in New Zealand as part of the Fifa technical study group at the Under-20 World Cup.
Mabedi joined the club from relegated Moroka Swallows and is one of three changes to the technical team for the new season with Calvin Marlin also joining as goalkeeper coach following his retirement from playing at the end of the last campaign.
Meanwhile, Graham Oosthuis has also joined as team manager from University of Pretoria.
The players will be out through their paces by fitness trainer Elsa Storm, who first of all will assess how the players stuck to their individual fitness programmes during the off-season.
Bloemfontein Celtic are set to become the second PSL team back at work when they start pre-season on Wednesday.

PSL Transfer News: AmaTuks sign Harry Edge

Having had no New Zealanders playing in the Absa Premiership at the start of 2014/15, we will now have at least three when the new season rolls around.
University of Pretoria have announced the signing of holding midfielder Harry Edge, having spotted him during the team’s Multichoice Diski Challenge tour of the Netherlands, where he played for PEC Zwolle.
The 21-year-old will now join the team when pre-season training starts on June 22, and is seen as a replace for Mpho Matsi, who KickOff.com broke news of this morning had joined Mpumalanga Black Aces.
"When we played against Zwolle in Holland I liked his athletisism and the fact that he plays forward all the time; he plays center mid but can also slot in at central defence,” chief scout Paul Mathews tells AmaTuks’ official site.
“At Tuks we are very good defensively, but we need to keep the ball more and attack more and we though he would be a natural replacement for Matsi.
“We hope this move will work out for us and he can slot right in and make Tuks the place for him to grow and achieve great things.”
Countryman Jeremy Brockie took the PSL by storm in his first six months, scoring 10 goals for SuperSport United, where he has been joined by another Kiwi in Michael Boxall.

Matthew Rusike will stay at Kaizer Chiefs

Matthew Rusike is staying put at Kaizer Chiefs next season, with the club repotedly satisfied with his input.
The Zimbabwean has largely been a squad player through the three years he has spent at Naturena, though his contribution improved last season after the departure of countryman Kingston Nkhatha.
At the end of the campaign, his statistics read: 10 games started, five substitute appearances and three goals.

Word is that Rusike’s attitude, discipline and professionalism is what has won him the hearts of those who make decisions at the club, with Stuart Baxter having suggested that the 24 year-old be retained prior to his departure.

“His contract is not really an issue of discussion because he is happy at the club and the club is satisfied with his contribution,”  source says.
“With regards to his contract, both the player and the club speak the same language.”
Rusike joined Chiefs at the start of the 2012/13 season following a dispute-laden move from Jomo Cosmos.

PSL transfer news: Fiston Razak confirms Sundowns move

Fiston Abdul Razak has confirmed his transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns.
reported on Saturday that the Burundian striker had penned a three-year contract after a transfer fee in the region of R3-million was agreed with his club Sofapaka.
The contract also states that Sofapaka will earn 20 percent should Sundowns sell him to another team.
Razak has now confirmed the signing, posting pictures of him in the Sundowns jersey on his Facebook page.

No concerns for Khune over future plans

Cape Town - Outgoing Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has no concerns over his future as he prepares to leave the club at the end of the month.
The 27-year-old was amongst a host of senior names revealed by Amakhosi last week, whose contracts at Naturena will not be renewed.
Others like Tefu Mashamaite, Mandla Masango and Katlego Mphela will also not be at the club in 2015/16, along with coach Stuart Baxter after he left on amicable terms. The former Bafana mentor has since revealed that he plans on going straight into a fresh job.
Khune is currently in Durban with Bafana Bafana as they prepare for their opening 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia at the weekend.
"I'm still young, I still have a long future ahead of me," he said.
"I'm not worried I will not be able to get a club after I leave the camp. Now my agent is hard at work and my job is to focus here."
Khune and some of the others that are leaving Chiefs have come in for criticism by club boss Kaizer Motaung due to their financial demands.
But the experience goalkeeper is not looking back at the Soweto giants this week, insisting his focus was on South Africa.
"I told myself that as soon as I get to the national team, wearing the national colours, then I have to switch off from what's happening outside and focus fully here on the national team," he added.
"I think I've been doing that very well and I think you can see with my work on the field, that there's nothing bothering me at all.
“I'm just fully focussed on the national team."
